Does anyone have any ideas that you can provide to get in the Protein. The drinks are getting unbearable. I just sit and look at the drinks, a lot now cause I know the protein smell is going to knock me over...... Help me to stay on the Protein?

I got some fruit-flavored powders that you mix with water instead of milk and right now that is working for me. They are not as protein-rich, have 15-17g per serving but the one I get at Healthy Weight Supermarket in Springfield is grape flavored and mixes with 6oz of water so there's not as much to get down. I also have Nectar brand fuzzy navel which I mix with Tropicana Sugar-free Orangeade and that is working too. I also ordered New-whey liquid protein in fruit punch flavor (test tube looking containers) and they have 42g in 3 oz and I pour it over ice and sip. Right now those and the bars from Fresh Energy Bakery are my main, other than food, sources of protein. Just am not able to do regular powders right now. However, as it gets warmer I think smoothies with ice blended in may taste better to me. It's a matter of volume, number of ounces, right now. Hope this helps you. You can call Healthy Weight Supermarket and they'll ship to you. Tell them you have had weight loss surgery and you get a 10% discount. Hugs and love, Lana

Linda, I just got done drinking my protein this afternoon. This is what I really enjoy. I have the protein that you buy at food 4 less or on line and I take one scoop and add it to one cup of (I use 2percent) and add about 6 frozen strawberries. Today I used the strawberry protein. Put in your blender and it makes a thick shake. I love it as it tastes good and actually you think you are drinking a shake. Only it is so nice and thick that you have to use a spoon to eat it. any more questions, email me. Where are you located in KC? Colette

Hi Linda, Boy, do I ever remember going through that same exact thing until I met someone wonderful (Mel) who gave me some samples of the ON...the ones a couple of prev posts talked about. I also get mine at Food 4 Less due to them being about 1/2 the price of the health food store. I like the strawberry and vanilla. Make sure it is their Gold Standard Brand as Optimum Nutrition has several brands, but I bought the soy one once-and it made me vomit. I do not use soy, I use regular milk, but soy is good if thats what you like and are used to....If you do not live by a Food 4 Less-you can order it online at Allstarhealth.com for 5.95 flat fee shipping and its real close to the same prices as the grocery store and a better selection too!!! The protein bullets arent bad-but I was drinking the whole thing and didnt know your body cant absorb more than 30 g of protein in a half hour or hour-cant remember, so just about the time I was having a hard time with them-I should have been putting it up to do the rest later in the day-LOL....Anyhow-I had the orange and it was good. A little sweet. I personally LOVE protein balls-they have between 10-12 grams PER ball and I can eat a couple of them a day (they taste like a no-bake cookie to me), plus my shake and I am good to go...A lot of my friends like to eat the refried beans...I am not one for that, but it is a good source of protein... I hope you find what you can tolerate, its part of the battle-but the ON Gold Standard Instantized 100% Whey is HANDS DOWN my favorite and a lot of my friends favorites as well...Good luck and let us know what you find!!! Thank you so much. I will be going to look for the ON tomorrow. Where did you get the protein balls from? I had my surgery on October 30 2006 and have lost over 100 lbs but it seems to be slowing down now. I feel it must be that im not getting in enought protein. I work out 5 day a week and do water aroebics 2 nights a week at long view college. No it is not the easy way out. But I wish I had done this 20 years ago. I feel great. Thanks again Linda

Hi Linda, Ok-the protein balls-we make them...Now, I have only used the ON for the protein powder part of it...when I make another batch tomorrow-I am using 1/2 C of vanilla and 1/2 C of chocolate just to see what happens...I am going to give you the recipe. My hubby and kids love them as well....but I keep that snack for myself-LOL!! Oh-and ON is low carb and sugar. Its got less than 3 for both..I believe its 3 carb and 1 sugar. I had my surgery on 11/29/06 and have lost 110# and I have gone through some times where the scale doesnt move for 9-10 days, but I think sometimes our bodies just have to play catch up since we have lost so much so fast, ya know? I knew I was getting in my protein, vitamins, water etc-and it didnt matter. The scale will start moving again-and by the way-you look GREAT!! Here goes: Protein balls: 2 cups peanut butter 1 cup oatmeal 1 cup low or no carb protein powder (ON okay here) 3/4 cup splenda warm peanut butter in the microwave for 40 seconds-add everything and mix well. Roll into walnut sz balls...(some refridgerate-I put them in tupperware on the counter and pop it open and take one when I want. They arent around long enough to go bad) Each protein ball is 10-12 g of protein.....Please let me know if you like them and I will also let you know if the choc/vanilla mix is good too!! Good luck...Love, Janet

Thanks you guys have been the greatest. I will try to find the tamale man this weekend and also cant wait to try the 'ON' and the Protein Balls. I drink the AchievOne Vanilla nut drinks 3 times a week but they have caffeine in them so the doctor really don't like you to have them cause they may increase your appetite. But with you guys ideas, I believe I can make it......YIPPEE. Linda
