What did ya'll do about eating for the 10 days before surgery? Did you try to count the calories and stick to the 1000 a day or did you do protein drinks for all three meals? Since my Date is March 9th I'm getting close to my 10 days away. Any of you guys on the loser's bench? What did you do? Which was better? Oh.. and what do Angels Do? do they have to be one of the post op's? or can it be anyone? Thanks - and Hugz to all! Pat B.

Hi Pat, Sorry I can't answer any of your questions. 1. because when I had my surgery last Jan 06 the Dr. didn't require a liquid diet 10 days before like he does now. I could eat anything that I had normally eaten. 2. I don't know what the Angels do or if they have to be post-op. What I did want to say was... Congratulations on your up coming surgery!! Good luck and I'll pray that all goes well and you get to be a new you soon Hugs, Anna 245/142/13?

I tried to stay within the 1000 cal, you can use the protein drinks if you wanted to, but they were not enough for me...God bless you on your journey.....vesta

Pat it isnt a liquid diet it is just to stay under 1000 calories a day. What i did was drink 2protein drinks a day and eat another small meal and s.f. puddings as snacks. the only day that i was all liquid was the day before surgery. An angel can be anyone. basically what they do is find out how you got thur surgery right afterwards , by one of your family calling them and reporting it to the board so we will all know how you are doing. Anything more than that is up to them. Jan

Pat, Did you get a 3 ring binder? It has the foods to eat 10 prior to surgery. If not, I can scan you a copy. I would also call the Dr. office and tell them you didn't get one. RE: Angel, go to the bottom of your webpage to your surgical page and click on angel. Anyone can be your angel but you have to ask. I have clicked to vol. to be your little angel and proud to be your angel. Just do what the page says. If you will fill out your cards I will fax them to the Dr. office. I am so excited for you! Hugzzzzzzzzzz Charlotte

I just tried to stay within the 1000 calories. Kept my choices low fat. Tried protein drinks but did not rely on them for meals.

Thanks guys I do appreciate all your ideas - Charlotte yes I did get the binder and will try to do the 1000 cal. the problem is me TRYING to do a 1000 calories, if I was Good at THAT I probably wouldn't be in the shape I'm in... unfortunatley. I was hoping maybe if I tried the shakes and/or liquid meals then I wouldn't be tempted - My resolve Right now is slippery cause I know in 10 days I won't be eating anything for a month or more until I can begin soft foods - did anyone else have this panicky feeling like maybe I should eat - before I can't? I know better but oh my my brain (such as it is) is trying to sabatoge me... But anyway Thank You all for your ideas - Charlotte - I have been looking for the page you told me to - just as soon as I do you'll be my angel ... okay? I can't wait. Pat B.
