Hey Losers. Can anyone tell me how many protein drinks a day I am supposed to have for the two weeks before my surgery. My paper says 5 a day, but then other papers I have say 60g of protein, which would only be 3-4 drinks a day with what I'm drinking. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks much, Melissa

Hey Melissa, I usually drink about 60g of protein a day, I use the ON 100% Whey Gold Standard, its 24g of protein per serving, then 1 cup of milk has about 8g of protein, drinking 2 of those gets your 60g a day in. As a post - op I try to get at least 90g of protein a day in. Not sure what your using for protein but hope that helps ya. Andrew

Hi Melissa, Well, I did the pre-op diet for almost 7 weeks total.....I ONLY got in all 5 shakes 2 or 3 times, just couldnt do it. I use the same protein shakes that Andrew does-and I did 2 or 3 a day and thats it. If you are going to MO Bariatrics, for some reason I thought you were-you might call the nut-Jennifer and ask her, but I think if you can get in your protein with 3-4 drinks, then thats all you have to do...another thing is that they dont want you to get hungry.....and the protein helps with that....the more protein you can get down-the more weight you will take off and they want as much fatty tissue off the liver as you can get pre-op.....so If you dont want to call, just do the required amount and IF you get hungry-make another one.....Hope this helps and I wish you luck...the hardest part is almost over and you will be sitting by ALL your LOSER friends in no time....(its the ONLY time we like to be called losers, huh?) I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Good luck hon, and if you need anything, just post. Love, Janet

Melissa I see your starting your liquid diet. Does this mean you have a surgery date??? Sorry I have been down with computer problems and moving so I havent been on line as much as I would like to have been. I agree with Andrew and Janet I use the On whey also but was unable to do more then 3 or 4 at most. Good luck drop me an email when you get the chance and let me know how your fairing. God Bless Melissa R.

Hey Melissa, Yes, I have a surgery date. It's March 12. I am so excited!! I will try some of the other protein drinks. They are hard to get down sometimes. Yesterday I had such a bad headache and was nauseas all day. Today I'm fine, so far. The dietician said the first 3-4 days are the hardest. I hope she's right. Oh well, it's a means to and end, right?!! Anyway, glad you're pc is up and running. Talk to you soon. Melissa
