Help! What are people taking for the hair loss problem and where do you get it? I am cheap, so something from Walmart or generic would be best if you know of something. I am over 3 months post op and have lost 109 pounds (that includes 40 pre-surgury). I was told to expect this and I have dealt with it before when I lost weight on Adkins Diet. Any ideas out there?

Lucy, Do come to the Circle of Friends meeting Monday if you can. I cannot tell you how much support and what good ideas you'll get there. It is so fun, too. Not lectures just sharing. The fire station is at Battlefield and Scenic and if you need a ride, let me know and I'll come and get you and take you home. I really love OH messageboard but there is something about connecting directly with people who know exactly where you are coming from that is irreplaceable. I don't have any advice on the hair loss, I lost mine long before surgery. I know where to get wigs, though!!! Hugs and love, Lana

Lucy, I'm not sure that the $$ you will spend on the products will be worth the results....the hair stops falling out and grows back on it's own. I never took any special products and I still have hair! : ) It's a personal choice but the loss wasn't so extreme for me to spend the $$ on those products when they can not STOP it from happening. Lucy, my nut told me to take tha vitamin Hair, Skin and Nails. I have been taking it and it helps alot. Of course I am 10 months out, and it has almost stopped, but I seen a big difference in my skin, nails, and hair loss just this month, as they say it takes 3 months for anything to actually work. Also you need to take about 30 to 50 mg of Biotin if that is what you are going to try. The more the better on the mgs. Hope this helps, been there done that, but not everyone is the same, so what works for me, may not work for you. Keep us posted Kathleen

I didn't take anything extra during the hairloss time. It stopped about 9 months out for me. It just wasn't worth the extra money for me. Hugs, Anna

Thanks for the replies. I may check into the Biotin, but the idea of letting it run it's course sounds best. I really don't think it is a huge problem, except having to clean up all that hair. Jan -- I will try and make it to the Circle. I acually live very close to there and I could come on my way home from working out at Chesterfield. Thanks for the invite.

Best advise..,.protein! I am 2.5 years out, lost half my hair, and it is still not as thick and full as it was before surgery. A good hairdresser and layers makes a big difference. But do protein drinks. I only wish I had the recipes I have now back then at your stage.
