I know most of you had RNY but were you dizzy afterward? I have been dizzy all day. I guess it could be because of not eating so I drank a Slim Fast (low carb) at lunch and had some pudding and yogurt. I hadn't really eaten anything since Sunday night. I did fix a protein shake last night in the blender but didn't feel so well after I had it - I read later that doing those could cause more gas because mixing in a blender could cause bubbles???? So I'm wondering if the dizziness is from not eating. I'm just really not hungry (who would've thought that this time last week) but guess I need to force myself to eat some soup and down some more slim fast. How long does it take for the gas to get out? Praise the Lord for the wonderful weather - I got out w/my 4 year old and walked two different times today while he rode his bike. That helped considerably. Thanks in advance for your replies.

you could be dehydrated dear. how much water are you drinking? you need to sip sip sip all the time. I know you had the lap band but im sure you still need lots of water too. you need to try to get 64 oz a day . You probably cant do that much right away or at least rny cant but try. Jan

Could be dehydration, could be low blood sugar or blood pressure too. I would try drinking more (I know it is hard, but really important). Can you get somewhere to have your bp taken, even if it is Walmart? Gas is from surgery, when they fill you up to have more room to work in there. The only thing that really helped for me was moving around. Some have suggested Gas X, but my doc said that will only help if the gas is in the digestive tract and not the body cavity. In about a week, the body will absorb the body cavity gas, but if you have alot of pain, try moving around the upper body. Hope you get over it soon. ~Diana~

Hi Debbie, I did have the RNY-but I did experience something very similiar-where I really thought I was going to faint-I got so dizzy at times.... it was my system crashing..I ended up drinking a gatorade and then ate a small potatoe I nuked in the microwave to get the blood sugar back up...that was scary. I also have a 4 yr old and was so afraid I would pass out and he would be here by himself-with the fireplace going-so I called the surgeon on call to talk to them. I have always made my shakes in the blender and havent really had those gas problems....everyone is different though. I imagine the gas you are feeling is from surgery and I went through both the intestinal track and the surgery gas at the same time-and girl-I thought I was gonna die!! If not from being in pain, but at times from embaressment. Sounds like your moving around, so dont forget to drink those shakes EVEN when and if you arent hungry and get in enough liquid-cause dehydration is not fun!!! Take care and keep us posted. Love, Jan

Hi Debbie, I'm Debbie M I , like you had the Lap band. I'm fresh out of the gate too so I don't know too much but I may be able to help you some. First, the Gas-x helped ...A LOT! I don't know what all kinds of gas I had but it helped the pressure and pain. From the top of my left shoulder all the way down to where gas is suppose to be I liked the Gas-x strips and the chewables best! Take 2 at a time! As for the dizziness, I didn't have that but I would concure with everyone else there. Your not getting enough fluids in! I will also add that it sounds like what happens to me if I don't eat right. You need to go by the book on this or you will have more problems later on. ALWAYS eat the protein first and ALWAYS keep a BIG jug of water or Crystal Light around. You may just be sipping but do it EVERY TIME you get the chance. It won't be long before your back on a regular diet. Just hang tough and eat/drink what you are suppose too! Another tip for you....if you don't eat (what your suppose to) you won't lose weight. This is one diet where you HAVE to eat even if you don't want too...even if it's just some broth but sip, sip, sip. I went and got me a sippy cup to retrain myself to not to chug my drinks down. I also got baby spoons so I would re-learn to take smaller bites...it's working 26lbs are gone for good! Good Luck and I hope that helped! Deb M

Thanks, ladies! I'd say your guess is right about the water as I'd drank plenty until yesterday. Will keep a bottle by my side all day today and will also try to get more protein down. Off to get some water and yogurt. Thanks for the advice. Debbie M - that's so great that you've lost 26 lbs. already! Congratulations!
