I need to know specifics about what my doctor should include in his notes for the insurance company for the medically supervised diets. Thanks so much.

I haven't dealt with Mercy but I know for my insurance I needed dates of the programs, Drs who supervised, and five years of Doctors notes with documentation that they had supervised my weight loss attempts. I didn't have all that so I had to complete a six month diet/exercise program that my current PCP supervised but you know it was one of the best things that happened to me. I had 14 classes to attend, had to exercise 3-4 times a week, had monthly dietician and exercise physiologist consults and just in general got prepared for the surgery. I was in much better shape physically after the six months and had a relatively easy surgery and recovery. So, if you have to jump through hoops, just ask, "How high?" because it is all worth it to be healthier and more active. I feel so muich better despite being diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis right before surgery. Keep pushing, you'll be so glad you did. Hugs and love, Lana

Thank you so much for your reply, I too feel that you need time to adjust and be committed to this lifestyle if you are to be sucessful. I am waiting on some drs notes and will have one 6 month medically supervised diet completed. If I have to do another I am willing to do it. LeeAnn
