Denied
So sorry Stacy that you were denied. will they pay for RNY? I will most certainly pray for you and that you may find the solution. I had the rny not the lapband so cant say how well that one does but I know now that if i had known how much better i would feel now than then I would sell what ever i had to or morgage my home or what ever to be able to have the surgery. I feel that much better. Jan

Sorry to hear you were denied. My insurance denied a lapband for me also so I went with the RNY and now I am so glad I did. I am a sweet eater and don't think the band would have been enough for me. If you want either one just stay on them and get an attorney if need be. I will pray you get what you want.

I agree. Find out why they denied and if it is just Lap-band apply for RNY. I had mine on 12/26/06 and am feeling great. Just get your ducks in a row and stay calm. I made wonderful friends at my insurance company, which is local in Springfield, and they helped me to know what I needed to get together for them. They had really strict requirements but I did everything they said and they did approve me. It really all depends on why they denied you. Thank you for your encouraging words. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Missouri. Our policy does have a weight loss exlusion in it, but my administrator is the contractor for the insurance....she thought she could get it approved by asking for a one time exception. It didn't work. I even had a letter of medical necessity. I wrote another letter and my PCP wrote one too...now I have to wait again...I have a sick feeling...I know they won't approve it...I wanted this so badly. Thanks for all your kind words and prayers.
