Doctors appointment

I saw Dr. Edwards for my follow-up appointment and I'm seven weeks out I think!!! I can't count very well. Anyway I am down 21 pounds since surgery and 36 pounds since 1 1/2 weeks before surgery (liquid diet got rid of 15 pounds). I am thrilled and Dr. was so encouraging. Said I was doing perfectly and told me I could expect to get lower than my original goal weight. He's such a sweetie. We talked already about tummy skin and he said he thought I'd need upper arms too because as people lose they can wear smaller shirts but their arms don't fit the sleeves. I never thought about that but actually I've always had disproportionately large upper arms so I'll bet he's right about me. Anyway, he said the TT wouldn't be bad at all when I got down to my goal. I know the upper arms are kind of radical, big scars. But I'll bet I'll want them. I'm so greedy. He was thrilled about my blood sugars, none over 106 for weeks now. All in all a really good appointment. Next week I see my PCP and rheumatologist. I'm having a little flare of rheumatoid arthritis this week, hands are very swollen. However, the pain is very managable with one Tylenol. So, that's a big improvement over previous episodes. I'm even sleeping better, using Breathe Right so I don't snore and can sleep on my back!!! I've been really busy at work, have been neglecting all of you. We're in big meetings regarding possible move to another building and it's a big deal. I have the most wonderful office in the whole university I'm sure and of course will be leaving it. I have a view out over the football field, green and pretty all the time - artificial turf and it's huge. But, I am an old work horse and I'll work wherever they put me, just plug my computer in and watch me go!!! I am so glad I was able to have this surgery. I have called the people at my insurance a couple of times and told them how I'm doing, we had gotten quite acquainted over the six months, and they are so happy for me and want to stay in touch. I want to be a success so maybe someone else will have an even easier time getting approval. I love you all. Welcome to the newbies. Hugs and love, Lana

you are amazing, doing great by the way on the weight too. Yeah i can already tell that my upper arms will keep me from wearing a small in a shirt . I can wear mediums now but some of them the sleeves are sort of snug. that is great that you are trying to get across to the insurance companys that it is a great surgery to be allowed to have. Jan

HI Vesta how are you doing? Great I hope. I was just wondering on what you are eating? Have you tried any solid foods yet? I have and it has gone pretty well for me. I chew really really long and take little tiny bites. I was just curious on how you are doing? Gretta

Lana, That's great about how well you are doing. Have you visited the PS board on here yet? You can get alot of good info and see the different types of results other's have gotten. I'd advise when it's time to get plastics that you shop aorund and actually see pics of drs work...in Springfield, there's quite a difference in technique and the type of scars etc.... You've got St John's ins I assume so my surgeon wouldn't work for ya, Dr Price does GREAT work and scars are very small and flat. Anyway.....that's down the road a ways for ya, so no rush. : ) Good luck with all the changes at work...changes goign on everywhere...my office too....just heard as I was writing this that our only male person here (other than Drs) had his position eliminated, in 3 wks he's gone. ouch! Has several folks worried, but not me...if I'm affected, it's time to move on then....: ) Something better must be waiting. Congrats on doing so well!! Tami
