Protein Drinks...
I usually drink at least 2 protein drinks a day....mixed with 8 oz of soy milk. we are suppose to have 90 grams of protein a day and that is the only way i can get it all in. because most days food is not my friend. lol. Yes i will probably drink them for the rest of my life because i like them and like i said it is an easy way for me to get in my protein. I try to eat enough other stuff to get in the other 30 grams of protein in a day. Like a bowl of chili with lots of groundmeat and beans or other something. I still have lots of trouble with meats and cant eat enough of it to total 30 grams. so have to rely on beans a lot. Hope this helps. Jan
Jan a few more questions....how many calories are you suppose to consume? I am getting 2 protein shakes aday now "ugg" and with my pureed chicken and fat free refried beans I found some low fat blue cheese, still has 10 grams of fat,so with all that I am getting around 88 to 95 grams of protein and between 600 to 800 cals. do you think I am doing ok?....tks....vesta
i think that is ok Vesta. I dont really look at the calories part. As long as im keeping my carbs down and sugar down and protein up that is all i worry about, You know it takes more than 800 calories a day to just exist so dont worry about that ...I havent found any standard guide for calories anyway. Every one you ask has a differeny amount. But can yuo imagine eating that few of calories before surgery? lol Do you have the dietions name from the hospital in Sedalia anyone. I have lost her card i think. We could run this by her if anyone has her name and number. She said to call her if we had any questions. Jan
Debbie,
I drink at least one shake a day, make it with non-fat milk and that makes about 30g or protein. I expect to drink at least one for the rest of my life because I just can't get enough protein in any other way. I'm probably only getting 60g right now but if I want I can drink another shake in the evening and pu**** up to 90g. I, like Jan, don't count calories, just know I don't eat much so it can't be too many. Later, I'll have to keep track but at the stage we are in we just don't eat enough to worry about in my opinion. Of course, I don't eat fatty things or sugar or carbs so the calories are just naturally low.
Hugs and love,
Lana
