No insurance coverage
Hi! to all the wonderful folks here at OH Missouri. I am so excited to find this support system. I am schedule to have surgery on Feb. 21st. Everything went through quickly due to the procedure is not covered on my school district's self-funded insurance plan. I am selling my car to pay for the cost.
I am so excited about sustained weight loss. I am 46 years old with a wonderful husband and a 6 year-old daughter. I want to be around for both of them and my grandchildren - some day (when our daughter is 30 or so and married!!!)
I do have a question concerning the liquid diet 14 days prior to surgery. Does the liquid consumed with protein drinks count toward the 64 oz daily of water? Also, if I am able to get 60 grams of protein a day with 3 protein drinks - do you think I need to drink the suggested 5 a day? Thanks to all of you for your help and loving concern.
Congratulations Sue. You'll be so glad you had this surgery. You'll have a new slim, healthy life and you will have many years to enjoy life with your family. I think the answers to your questions are best asked of your physician. Each Dr. has different rules so check with the office. We'll be praying for you on the 21st. Hugs & love,
Lana
Hi Sue,
First-CONGRATS on your date-we have room for ya on the losers bench-and its a wonderful bench to be on-wouldnt sit anywhere else....
I too was on the liquid/protein diet-but for longer than 14 days-due to my BMI...so prob about 6 weeks or so-and I personally only got in the 5 shakes maybe 3 times in all those weeks. Just couldnt choke em down like that!! I know that the weight comes off much faster the MORE protein you get in-thats for sure, but I talked it over with my dietician and doctor-and I pretty much stuck with 3. It will be much easier after the surgery with the shakes etc and the liquids than it is beforehand, thats for sure.
Maybe call and tt the dietician and see what they say....Lana is right, every doc is different and I dont want someone taking "my" advise like I am a doc, cause I am not, just know what works or doesnt work for me.....and for me, just wasnt physically able to get that many shakes in every day-no matter how hard I tried....so...thats when I tt them at the dr ofc to get some advise or tips.
Good luck and you will be in our thoughts and prayers, Love, Jan
