WHATS HAPPENING FRIDAY

Good morning once again and it is TGIF so I know a lot of you that work the m-f work week are really happy about that. Isnt the snow pretty? I just love it. Of course the roads down here have been plowed and salted so it is ok to drive them. I guess it wouldn't be so pretty if the roads were covered and unable to get out in this. Today I am going to go to Branson to pick up Joes triple script for his pain meds from the pain clinic and also going to the Roark Health Club and check out their water aerobics class. I want to get there in time to watch at least part of it. If they will let me. It starts at 9:30 so will have to get up and get to moving . Rachael congradulations are in order for your mom. Tell her we are all very proud of her. . Robin: did you get to Sedalia yesterday for the pre-ops. I thought about your all yesterday morning wondering if you made it. Yes all one can do is pray about a couple going thru breakups. It hurts knowing it is your child. Melissa: The snow on the ground is very pretty as long as we don't hve to get out in it too much. But it is beautiful isn't it? Treece: hey a lot of us went to that web site and voted for you to win. Do you get a step up in your singing career. Wow 46 pounds in 5 weeks. That is amazing. Andrew: So glad you are feeling better. Keep taking your meds, juice and water. It will clear up now. Vesta: how are you this morning? Oh im really sure my Vesta plant will start coming up soon. Lol Sugar: Well you really know the situation , never has been really what it should be but hey . Talked to Steve for awhile and says he doesn't know why really. So all we can do is pray for them. Janet: lol im sorry but couldn't help but laugh , at the desperation in your voice about 13 snow days!!!!! And being a stay at home mom would keep them going to school. Sorry you are having problems with the ex. Nothing any better to do is there. Lol You know situations that you cant change then you need to change the way you think about it. Lol I know this is sort of short for me but sorry , my legs are trying to run away from me so I took my meds for the RLS and they make me sleepy. Talk to you all tomorrow. Hi Jan and all. Well this week is finally winding down , at least the days in it. I got a call today about my sister I have been helping.They did a mamogram on her in July and said it was OK. Now last week they called and said it wasn't so took her to have a sonagram. Now they called today and she has an appointment in Columbia on the 8th at Ellis Fischel the cancer hospital. Luckily it is the surgeon who did her muscle biopsy. We have double appts on the 8th and 9th so I told her I feel like we just need to get a room and stay thursday nite and try to relax. We get her muscle biopsy results friday so it's a double whammy for her. I have an appt with the MDA clinic and to get my surgery date at the ortho. Still no word on my apartment.I plan on moving as soon as possible. DBF said he thought we could use one of the moving vans from his boss which will be nice.We can get it all done in one day because we have a small one-bedroom and own very little. I had to go to a meeting today about the apt complex I am at. We talked with a lawyer and then had to talk with the assistant Attorney General.Trust me I know who NOT TO VOTE FOR NEXT YEAR. Th stress is almost unbearable over this right now. I am trying to just put it in Gods hands and when I think I have it done then the ol steps in and stirs something up.I hope this is not an omen for the 2 surgeries I have coming up.Well enough complaining. I am going to be an angel again so I am looking forward to that. And both my teams are in the Super Bowl so I can't lose there. And now we have our new support group coming up so I guess things are not as bad as they seem.Jan your green house and guest house sounds better and better. But I do want to know if Andrew and Joe form a polar club, please please get pics!!! I am glad to hear all the newbies are doing well. I am getting anxious to see them again.And it is finally February!!! yeah the shortest month of the year(and usually the coldest) then watch out spring!! Whoo Hoo!. Hello to all the new ones. Good Morning Posties... Looks like a beautiful but VERY cold day here! I have a lot planned for today so this post shouldn't be too long...I hope!...lol Yesterday was my one week follow up! It was good and bad! David took another vacation day so he could drive because I couldn't until after I saw Dr H (I think David was really happy he did)! We got there about a hour early. We got an early start not knowing how the roads were between here and there. They were clear of course so David and I sat in our car at Dr. H's office trying to decide how to spend the extra time. We decided to just go in early and see if they would just push us through since it was just a follow up and it worked!! We were in and out way before our original appointment time!! The office was pretty full when we first got there so we figured we would have a good long wait but we were prepared. A nurse came out and called for Debbie but David and I were looking around for another Debbie because it was to soon for me! After they called the name again and no one got up, I did! The nurse rushed me to the scales and off to a room not giving me a chance to step back out to the waiting room to get David and my belongings. When we got to the room she closed the door and started going off on me! It was about me gaining a couple of pounds since the last time I was seen there! This woman was all over me! I couldn't get a word in edge wise! Finally, when she was done with her ranting and raving I spoke up letting her know my side of the story! When I was done, she wouldn't look me in the face! She hardly said a thing more but gave me a thumbs up before her exit where she said, the Doctor will be in soon! David said that she probably left the room feeling about 3 inches high! I said, she should of!! After she left I rushed out to the waiting room, flagged David down and we both went back to my room, this time with my belongings! I explained to David what had just happened, he couldn't believe it! I said I know, especially with Dr H being the sweetest Doctor I had EVER met! His smile alone brightens a room! I figured everyone in the office would be a spin off him. I told David that I had thought about reporting her but changed my mind due to her maybe her just having a bad day, PMS, menopause, whatever...she got a reprieve!! The conversation between the nurse and I went something like this... We entered the room and no sooner than that door closed she started. Why aren't you doing what your supposed to be doing! Why aren't you following your diet! You realize that this surgery isn't a game and is not to be taken lightly! It's for people who are serious about losing weight and you have to stick to the rules or your just going to be gaining more and more!! You have gained more weight instead of losing!! It went on and on but you get the idea. I just sat there with, I know a very shocked look on my face ...lol When she was done, I started to have my say... If you would look in my chart, you will see that the LAST time I was in this office which was August of last year (I heard her mumble...yea, September....to be exact it was August 30th!) and yes I gained more weight BEFORE the surgery! The day of my assessment I weighed in at 291lbs which was up from the 27?lbs that I had weighed the last time I was on these scales! After the 2 week 1000 cal. diet, pre-surgery I weighed in at 278lbs! Since the surgery and following the liguid diet, I now weigh 273lbs by these scales! Also, I have stopped taking all my diabetes meds. because they are no longer needed! I don't have any major high or low sugar numbers and I can control the numbers by the foods I eat! Another thing, I have stopped my Lasix and the potassium that goes along with it because I no longer have ANY swelling of my feet, hands or calves and haven't for some time!! Now, what were you saying?? Anyway...after she left and Doc H, came in EVERYTHING went WONDERFUL!! I had to laugh because the first thing he said was....had to stop the clear liquid diet and move on to the creams?? I was ready for round two but I should of known better! I said yes but I only started them 2 days ago and the ONLY reason I did was because I was starting to gag everytime I tried eating the sf jello or the broths! (this was strange because I love orange jello and the cubed chicken broth) I knew I needed to get something down and the gagging wasn't doing my lap band any good! I told him that I had some protein powder that I was using (THANK YOU MELISSA!!) and that I was also drinking the powered Lipton cream of chicken soup and eating low fat/sugar yogurt. He didn't seem upset about it, as a matter of fact he told me another week of what I have been doing or foods that could fit through a McDonalds straw. I could then go back to regular foods but not to fight the resistance when I could feel the banded stomach getting full! He also said that I no longer have to take my diabetes meds or my Lasix/Potassium....YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He said I looked great and that my vitals and weigh loss were great!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!!! Thank you Doc H...you are a Godsend! He said he would see me in 4 weeks, at the hospital for my first fill!! ...oh no,that would still hurt....lol how about ... Now for those newbies reading this that think you can do the same thing....DON'T!! Go by what YOUR Doctors tells you!! Every case is different and every Doctor is different so I DO NOT recommend ANYONE trying what I did! A lot of bad stuff could of happened, even death!! So don't think just because it was okay for me that it will be for you!! PLEASE!!! Well, sooo much for this post being short ....lol Jan.... I have a little pain here and there....mainly gas and where my port (fill) site are. It use to hurt pretty bad when I had gas under the port sight but that's gone now!....THANK YOU LORD!! Deb, So sorry about your experience. But if it is the nurse I think it is then that was probally one of her GOOD DAYS!!!I have known the one I am thinking about for 20 years or more and not in a professional manner. She has a strange disposition. But I will tell you I am very proud of your hard work and weight loss!!! And I am glad you stood your ground and got the facts straightened out. Happy Friday Jan and Fellow OH Peeps~ I am sitting here sipping my coffee and doing the happy dance in my chair-cause school resumed today-although all around us-they still had snow days today-seneca, pea ridge and east newton....all I can say about yesterday is WOW...the older one is emotional and the boys seemed to wrestle all day and the little one-well, he spent his day screaming/screeching at the older 2. At one point, I thought-I wander if my good ol doctor would bring me out some valium or prozak? Of course, no where to HIDE in this big ol' house-they are like little blood hounds. I was never so happy for bed time to roll around-cause I was exhausted!! LOL. Not sure if I will venture out today or not-have to take my daughter to town this evening to drop her off so she can attend the visitation, and then the funeral is tomorrow late morning. At least her older sister will be there, although my ex's family has called to ask me to attend as well, just not comfortable with that, since I didnt know the man and never even spent time in the same room with him. My ex's family, ecspically his mom, didnt treat me very well when we were married, and even worse during the seperation and divorce-and she has only called my house one time in 10 years, so I just dont think I belong there. I did get a sympathy card though. Jan, hope your trip to Branson is safe and uneventful and I bet it will be a beautiful drive if the roads are clear. The snow melted on our road yesterday, so there were only like 2-3 places that were a little slick, but nothing major. WOO-HOO... But, MAN was it COLD... Hello everyone, Yes, TGIF!!! I am off today as I have to work 4 hours on sat and 4 hours on Sunday. Every 6-8 weeks I have to do this, so I took off today. So glad to see everyone is doing ok. Jan, water arobics are great. I wish I could find them aroung here close to home but the closest would be 19 miles each way. With working, I dont know if I can squeeze in anything else. So glad all the newbies are doing great, and also all the post opts. God has blessed each of us. Well, our support group is going to happen with our first meeting on Feb 26th. I especially want to thank Tony and everyone who has helped us to this point. I am so excited about starting this support group and I know with Gods help it will be a success. Good morning Missouri...... What a day.....We have been pretty busy so far this morning.....Hopefully mom will be home sometime today..... Took the baby to daycare this morning and just called to check on her and she is doing ok so far today..... Got a call from my sister this morning and bless her heart.....she was getting the kids ready to go to the daycare and walked out to get in her car and it was gone....she has moved to make a better life for herself and this happens....so I ask can we just keep her in your prayers for strength and to keep her spirits up.... Hello, dear Missouri people, The snow is beautiful and the roads are clear now so it's the best of both worlds. But, man, it's cold. We went out for dinner last night, first time since surgery. I had called Appleby's to be sure they had grilled shrimp but after we got there I saw they had grilled Tilapia on the Weigh****chers menu so I got that. Served it with salsa and softly steamed broccali, also rice but I didn't touch that. It went down really well so I am stoked, thinking we can start eating out again. Also, I'm at six weeks Tuesday so I think I'm about ready to start more normal food. I'm really a little scared but I think if I take it slowly, small bites, chew, chew, chew I'll be fine. Nothing has made me have a problem yet but I assume I will dump and am very careful. Meats are the problem because just the thought of any meat that is at all firm gives me the willys. Oh well, I'll keep it simple and moist and I know I'll be fine. Hugs and love to all, especially the newbies. Lana
