I know alot of people from the St. Louis area use Barnes but has anyone here used NewStart? I would love to hear from you.

I did in 2004. Had no problems with them.

I posted to you on the IL forum. just wanted to let you know that Followell assisted Dr Richardson in my surgery. he was a very nice guy!

I'm going over to meet with Dr. Richardson tommorow. I had to wait until they got certified as Center of Excellence. When sid you meet the DR.? Do you have a date ye? Tell me about what you have been through so far.

Honestly I am just starting out. They were to look at my file last week. I am waiting on them to call me. I think I am going to call them back today to see what is going on. I am getting anxious and wonder how soon I can get it done. What are your stats? How tall, weight etc?

I'm 60 , boby mass 56, 5foot 2.5. This morning I weighed 312.0. I have been tryingto do this for years litterly years. Insurance was the issue until I went on Medicare then I had to wait unatil New Start became a Center of Excellence. My paperwork was all in by the 9th of January then I had to do a test for thyroid and get op notes from other surgeries/Hernia/ and oather Dr.s I go to . I got that all done and faxed in one morning the 12th of January. A week later I got the call for todays meeting. Once it got rolling it has gone rather quickly(so far), I'll let you know how the meeting goes.

I am 27, Body mass of 46 I believe. I am 5 ft. 5inches and 285. I tried getting this done 3 years ago and could not because my insurance did not cover it. They started covering it on 1/1/07 and now I have done my psych eval., Letter from my doctor, EKG and physical but still have not met with the doctor. They said he is reviewing my chart tomorrow and hopefully they will call me tomorrow or Thurs at the latest. I am getting anxious. I am hoping I do not have to do appeals but I think I probably will because I don't have alot of co-morbidities. Yes I would love to hear from you and about your journey and how things go.

Hello, I have not submitted my papers to New Start yet, but have attended a seminar and have been to my PCP who ordered bloodwork, sleep study, etc. Who does the physicals, EKG, etc? I have a psych evaluation scheduled, I'm just not clear on what and where the pre-op tests are. Can any of you enlighten me on that?

I have not gotten that far yet. I got a physical and EKG done by my doctor to make sure that I was physically able to handle the surgery. He wanted to check my heart. Your doctor may not want that. When I find out more I will tell you. They are reviewing my chart tomorrow and should know something by the end ofthe week. I am in your boat right now except for I have submitted the paperwork.
