Question
How soon can I have buttermilk? I am on 1/4 cup of baby food, 1 egg with a little cheese, 1/4 cup fat free refried beans, and 3 tsp. peanut butter thru the day, I am on the pureed stage..also the protein drinks were making me sick so Margie said quit them for now ,when I get to the stage where I can have fruit maybe I can take them then...tks for any help....God bless...Vesta
I am eating pureed now, the drinks were cho. vanilla, capp. all of them makes me sick even to think about it. I would try bannas in the shake but so many dump on them and I am afraid to try them....their is just something about the protein that dont set well....how are you doing on your eating? now that I cant drink shakes I eat almost 1/4 cup 3 times aday plus peanut butter in between...I hope im not getting to much..lol....vesta
what brand of Protein Drink were you using Vesta? No i dont think you are getting in too much but what is your protein intake with only 1/4 cup 3xs a day
Peanut butter is only 7 grams per tablespoon . You need to be gettin 90 grams a day at least . of course it is hard to get it right at first.

Ok I have the cho. and vanilla whey I got at food 4 less and the capp. is nectar, I ordered it ...I called Margie and she said to quit the protein if it was making me sick..I just drink a cup of buttermilk and it did fine, so I will add that it has 9 protein for a cup,so if i do 2 cups a day I will be getting 54 proteins a day..I feel fine, just confused since I cant have protein shakes..lol....vesta
Vesta, do you think you might be lactose intolerant since the shakes are made with whey protein most times. I have a protein powder that is called EGG and it is made from eggs. There are also some at GNC that look like thin Jello. I'm worried about your protein intake. I have to drink two shakes a day to get up to 70-90 grams in. We just can't eat enough right now and if you don't have enough protein you won't lose as well. What about if you put some peach baby food in the shake? Also, Unjury powder is unflavored so it might not make you sick. I cannot stand chocolate right now but do a shake with decaf coffee, milk and vanilla powder, and I drink it warm. Love it right now, who knows about tomorrow.

Has anyone tried the protein bars from fresh energy bakery? I started them at the beginning of January so probably 7 weeks post op. At first I was eating a half one for breakfast and a half one for lunch. I can now eat a whole one once a day (if I go slowly). They taste great and they have like 39 grams of protein per bar. They have a multitude of flavors too. I found the website here, it is www.freshenergybakery.com
I would definately wait until you are eating and digesting some solids before trying them though.
I still eat a lot of cottage cheese too. It is the one thing I eat when I don't think I can eat what the rest of my family is eating. I take it to work many days too.
I didn't do well with the protein shakes made with powder either, however the slim fast high protein, and the advantage high protein went down much easier. I even used some glucerna early on post op.
It really is trial and error for me.
