Medicade?
Hello Cory, I'm Debbie M. Yes there are, the one I'm having Lap Band Surgery with is Dr. Hornbostel at Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia. You'll find the info on my profile!! Most of the people on here have had Dr. H. He is a VERY good doctor! The MO board people will be very helpful and supportive during your journey of weight loss surgery.
A word of warning...don't get in any hurry! The process takes awhile! First off, you will have to go to a free informational seminar that Dr. H holds the first Tuesday of every month, I believe. Someone will be by to correct me, if I'm wrong...lol All the weight loss surgeons that I have seen have you come to one! You will get loads of information and answers there! I went to mine July 4th of last year. Second, find out what things you will have to do to get Medicare to cover it. A report from your pcp (Doctor) telling of your co-morbilities like high blood pressure, heart problems, breathing problems....the list goes on! You will more than likely have to go to a psychologist for a psych evaluation...no big deal but that might cost ya a little so you might start saving now if you don't already have the money. Mine was $270, I believe.
Well, that should get you started! Good Luck and I hope to see you around! Deb M.
Hi Cory,
Like Deb said Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia, MO does accept Missouri Medicade. Go to the link here and you'll find his address and phone number, call em and they'll let ya know when the next seminar is. I believe Dr. Hornbostel is about the closest surgeon to you.
Keep in touch and good luck on getting started. If you ever have questions dont hesitate to post here cuz there's usually someone that would be able to answer your questions.
Andrew
P.S. The link here shows about their next seminar and has their phone number.
Hope this helps.

Hi Cory,
I went to Columbia to MO Bariatrics and I have MO Medicaid. I know they were wonderful and I would recommend them to anyone-but I do not know about the lap band-I had the RNY and so I never asked, but you can call them and ask. They do seminars all over-not just in Columbia, so if they do cover it, you might ask when and where the next seminars are, as you will be required to attend, they will not even make an appt to see the doctor unless you fill out paperwork at the seminar. Their # is 573-882-5673. Good luck. Jan
