WHATS HAPPENING THURSDAY
Hi Rebecca,
I lived in IA(Bellevue) for 7 yrs, St Louis for 3 and (to Debbie) I lived in CA 3 different times and before coming to MO this last time I was in CA for 5 yrs. Lots of moving around!
Welcome to the board.
Start by getting a referral from your PCP recommending you as a candidate for surgery. I began by having a sleep study(pcp referred me after I asked her to), which showed I had sleep apnea (a co-morbidity that helped me get approved) then had and ECHO(cause I'd taken phen-fen), Complete lab work-up (which showed elev BP, cholesterol and type II diabetes w/o complications, all of those helped me get approved) ordered by bariatric surgeon after referral, and finally the psych eval. Then there was jsut the req'd support group and nutrionist meetings and info seminar.
You should be able to look online at you Insurance's website to see what their qualifications are to get approved for surgery. Do they require a 6 mo Dr supervised diet? If so you want to get that going with your pcp and document all the stuff they need to know(which should be on the website). For me, I had such a LONG detailed history of dieting, I was able to type it all up and included dates, name of diet, beginning-ending weights, how much reggained over what time period etc.....I wrote this up to cover a 20 year period and that was accepted by my insurance BCBS-CA.
Maybe you can find out who one of the co-workers is who had the surgery through your husbnad's employer and pick their brain. Most post-ops LOVE to share with others, what worked, how they got approved etc....jsut a amtter of locating one of them. Ask around!! You could get some valuable insider info!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
Feel free to ask us all the questions you need to!!!

Momma Jan & Company,
Brrrrr...
Well mom and I went out like goofy country folks and got ice, milk bread etc...this morning. We are supposed to get bad stuff on Saturday, and tomorrow I have a new water heater being installed and the bank re-financing my house is supposed to call me with an update on where we are in the process.
I am simmering a big pot of chili, and around noon, I am going to take Momma some over for her lunch.
Daddy had oral surgery yesterday, and will be having his pre-op appointment next Wed. for his knee surgery the following week. Makes me sad to see both parents in poor health.
Hope everyone is staying warm. Be safe, and know that I am thinking about you all.

Hi All,
Glad that more people are getting their power back on. Mine never went off but I did have people sharing our warm space. Both couples got theirs back on by yesterday. We feel so blessed.
I'm feeling good and so anxious to see everyone on Monday. Hope the snow is just a figment of someone's imagination.
My cold/cough lasted way too long but Momma Jan called me and kicked my B@#% and told me to call the Dr and get in to see him and I listened to her and he gave me antibiotics and it cleared right up.
I was without internet for way too long, missed everyone so much.
Love and hugs,
Lana
