Hey guys it is late and I am exhausted but had loads of fun today. We all laughed and played in the mud lol didn't find any diamonds but did find lots of pieces of quartz and other pretty rocks. Stopped at a crystal shop and found some of the most beautiful stuff. I bought a piece of amethysts. Hope that is spelled right. Benny so glad that you got another surgery date. April isn't too far off but long enough that you should be able to lose that weight that you need to lose. Sugar: see I told you that protein powder was good. You can do so many things with it. Boy , mamas would have had a good time with me today digging in the mud and dirt looking for pretty rocks lol. Even though we didn't find any diamonds found some pretties. Oh the little cup you found at wal-mart sounds like a good thing, as Martha says. Sherr: Yes it has been very dreary and bad even down here in the lower part of Ark. It didn't rain on us when we were in the diamond fields but it had been raining there. Wish you would commit to going to Brenda's and Andrews support meeting in Fredericktown. Would be good for you. Triple C: hey good to see you on here. Hope you come around more. If you want a great place to stay in Eureka Springs email me and I will give you the name of an excellent , romantic place . My daughter is the office manager/wedding coordinator there. Beautiful place. Melissa: Oh no how bad is it suppose to be where we live? We are planning on coming home tomorrow .Hopefully we can make it easily enough. Take it easy and be save. Tami: hope the cold is better. Take care of yourself and hope to see you on the 22nd? Is that the day? You always inspire me to try and be all I can be. Will write more and longer about our week end when I get home. Right now I need to get to bed. Hope I can sleep tonight. LOVE AND JOY AND PEACE ABOUNDS JAN

Hi all, Well I am so proud of all my girls!!! Vesta, Marilyn and Gretta. They did so well this week. Gretta will be going home today, Talked with her last nite and she sounded good. We have about 1 1/2"of just white sleet. I remember when I was a kid we would bring it in and use it to make a slushy drink. To harmful these days. I have been trying differen****ers and teas( I never drin****d tea, I have always hated it) but today I had a cold white tangerine tea that was good. Also have some lemon and tangerine water that is great. I am still not real into the protien drinks though. They just seem too sweet. But I have time to practice, practice, practice. So far my vitamin regimen is OK. They ususally make me sick but I guess the B-100 is doing it's thing. I have been having migraines again and I think they are just stress induced. I got the offical notice we are closing our apartments today. They said after I send them an up to date list they will give a 180 day notice to residents. But we still may sell in the next 30 days and then we will only have 30 to 60 days notice to move. I have already started sorting thru things and getting more organized and packing some. But still don't have a place or the finances to go yet. Darrell talked with some friends that said they will help with the money situation when the time comes. He works for a moving and storage company and this time of year and weather it is almost no work. So Until warmer weather things are squeaky tight. I do want to get moved before these 2 surgeries though. We will be moving to Sedalia so I will really miss my granddaughters. Some times I see them everyday and I enjoy them so much. Jan I am glad you and Joe had a nice time, that sounds like so much fun. I have watched stories on tv about that area of Arkansas. Everyone please be safe in this weather. julia

Well, were back!....Thank God!!! We went down to Sedalia on Friday night, stayed at the Best Western, sorry guys but we weren't very happy with the place! For one thing, we requested a room on the bottom floor because of our health issues and they gave us a 2nd floor room (215). Between David's heart and him having to carry most of the stuff and my body problems we had a heck of a time getting up and down them. When we got there, the young man at the front desk acted like were we're bothering him by checking in. We got there around 8pm so it's not like it was real late or anything, then he didn't give us our reciept that tells exactly how much the room cost. I mean I know it was $59.00 for the room but we didn't know how much the taxes were. There were lots of other things that we didn't care for but I won't get into it. We were there, safe and ready for the assessment on Friday. Got to Bothswell at 8:30am (Jan, we just had a regular nurse named "Judy"...she was great though, loved her!) I told Judy that my paperwork showed I was to have RNY but that I had requested LapBand. She got a little nervous, went out of the room, talked with others and came back with some different paperwork (for LapBand) and we got started. Jumped through all the hoops and believe that I did fine. I did gain weight though, went from 284 to 291....wasn't real happy with myself about that but we will be taking care of all that in a couple of weeks. My paperwork also stated that I was to start my 1000 cal. diet 3 days before surgery so the Dietician called Dr H's office and they said that, that wasn't right and that I was to start that immediately! The only part that I didn't like and that still bothering me is what the anesthesiologist told me and that was the fact that they would not remove the tube from my throat until I was alert enough to do a few things, nothing major but I'm flashing back to the surgery where I woke up and the tube was still down my throat, choking me or at least had my gag reflexes working overtime and I was trying to pull the tube out myself and now I have to perform tricks while it's still in, like raising my head. She said I wouldn't even remember it but that was the way it was gonna be, that it had to be. I asked her if I was the only one that has to do it and she said no, that every wls patient has. She didn't have a very good bedside manner! I'm sure shes a nice person but we didn't click. Can you guys tell me if the day you have your surgery, do you have the same anesthesiologist that you saw the day of your assessment or do you just get the one that's on duty for that day? This anesthesiologist didn't hardly ask me any questions and wasn't even in the room with me for very long. She talked more about making her daughter's wedding gown then my surgery. She just didn't make me feel comfortable, at all! All the other anesthesiologists that I have had, stayed with me for at least a half hour, maybe be longer. They asked me about my past surgical experiences and asked if I have ever had problems during any of my past experiences and they made me feel comfortable with them. This anesthesiologist came in, looked at my chart and said "ohhhh boy" like there was gonna be a problem, then she told me that they would be giving me something for nausea before the surgery and then told me how I would be put under, then how I would be awoken, then she left. She just left me with a bad feeling! As for the weather, we got out of there about 11:00am, heading back to Harrisonville and the roads got ugly! I had my eyes closed and kept praying! We only slipped a few times but David kept her on the road but we made it. I pray in 2 weeks, the weather will be sunny and bright! I don't want to be nervous about the weather while I'm going down there for surgery. I'm not worried about the surgery yet either, just the anesthesiologist and the tube! Everything else is about the same as all the other surgeries I've had, no real big differences! I do want to thank everyone that prayed us through on those bad roads and this weather and I'm sorry about being a crab about the assessment. I'm just honest and want everyone to know exactly what you MIGHT be going through. I have always, in a way, had fun with all my pre-surgery appts...this was just a first! Well, I have things to do! I will try to be on later to catch up with everyone else! Love you guys, Deb M

Deb: Dr. Hornbostel ususally does not keep the NG tube in, but your case or the Lap Band may be different. I would ask Dr. Hornbostel what to expect on that issue. As far as the anesthesiologist I talked to one of the main guys at my assessment, but he was not who was with me in surgery. I had a very nice lady. After you are preped they will roll you back in your bed to the pre-op room where the anesthesiologist talks to you and gives you the sleepy medicine. Both of my surgeries I had good experiences with the anesthesia. I think they have a very good staff there so hopefully you will get someone very nice and helpful on your day. Glad you made it home safely! I'm be praying for you! Hugs, Marilyn

Marilyn, Glad to see you are up and busy. How do you make your sour cream chicken. It sounds soooo goood! I would like to give it a try. I am drinking a "strawberry sorbet" protein drink like I gave you. I pu****er, ice and frozen strawberries in it. It is not half bad!!! I am surprised. It's not so sweet as some of the others. It would be good with a little bananna in it. I have been drinking tropicana lemon water. It is nice and refreshing! I am trying to get used to some of these things before hand. Take care and keep sippin and walking. Julia

I will e-mail you the recipe. It is a weigh****chers recipe and is really easy. The family is just sitting down to eat now and love it along with their mashed potatoes and salad. I think it is something that would go down pretty easy post op because the chicken is very moist. Me - I'm sipping apple juice and ignoring the smells!!

Deb, The nurse "Judy" is a friend of mine , she is a sweet heart. As for the tube situation. You will probally not even know when they remove it. There is a guy named "Mike" who is in anesthisa and he is wonderful. Also a cut up and makes you feel real relaxed. If you have him you won't have any problems. They go thru the very same thing when you go in for surgery so if you are not happy with anyone or what is said just ask to have it explained by someone else. They will be happy to do it. Unfortunately there still are a lot of grumpy people still left in this world. What time are you going in? I will be happy to come to hospital if needed and sit and talk with you until you go in.Just let me know. Take care you will do fine. Remember you are in God's hands. julia

Happy Saturday all. My day started off odd this morning. A knock at the door, police asking for my husband. Seems the officer knew Roger worked for the telephone company and there were supposedly 4 locations in town with down cable and broken telephone poles from the ice. Roger dressed and de-iced the company truck (took about half an hour to do that) and went to check things out. Turns out the lines down and poles broken were electric. Ick, Ameren UE got another call. I hate that we are having so much ice. I hope everyone has heard the marvelous news. The 13 year old boy from Beaufort (ten miles from my house) and another boy, then 11 years old kidnapped in 2002, were both found alive and well in STL. It literally took my breath away and tears of joy when the newscast was on. I was watching the breaking news story and got a call from Valerie_1974, she was in tears too, then got another call and had to cut our conversation short. God has answered the prayers of two local communities. Still praying that Shawn Hornbeck can make the adjustment back into a routine life after such trauma as I know he must have felt. I guess the trip to STL will be cancelled in anticipation of the next round of bad weather. I have been looking forward to the RV show all year. Darn it. Sherr, I like the new avatar picture. As a change have you ever though of lightening your hair, maybe adding hi-lites? My mom is a beautician, and I just think of things like that because she asks me so often. It looks great now, but I saw your 'younger' picture with longer, lighter hair. I bet with the smaller body and lighter hair, you would look just like that again. Jan, shoot. I was hoping for a diamond find for you. Amethists are beautiful; I just love crystals of all kinds. Deb, call and talk with the Manager, tell him about getting put on the second floor and no receipt. Ask him for a complimentary night's stay for your hubby for the night of surgery. Can't hurt. I have done that in the past at a 4-star hotel at the Lake for a serious issue and got 2 free nights. Sorry you had to go thru that. Julia, I read your posts and see how caring of a person you are. I just have to say, you will be rewarded in Heaven for being such a kind person. Ok, got to run. Making chili today and I want to let it simmer all day. Hugs to all, ~Diana~

Chili sounds wonderful. I just put Sour Cream Chicken in the crock pot for the family, will serve with mashed potatoes. I can usually managing fixing the meal, but then have to get out of the kitchen while they eat and clean up - it's just to tempting to say in. But, the temptation is different because I know I absolutely can not put anything in my mouth, but I figure, by get my taste buds all excited tee hee. I'm drinking lemon water right now, had an apple juice this morning. I do feel hunger, but it is not really the same. It feels more like my stomach is just empty and sore. Hope everyone has a nice weekend! Stay inside safe and warm! Marilyn
