Failing
Okay, Iknow that everyone gets scared that they are going to fail...but I am really freaking out. I am 3 weeks post op and have only lost 9 lbs. I lost 20 lbs pre op due to a 2 week liquid diet. I get between 60-80 grams of protien a day plus well obver 64 oz of fluids. I walk 30 min a day and do weight lifting for my arms. I am not losing inches...anywhere. So whats up with me....any advice, or have I gone thru all of this to just become failure, again. Valerie
Valerie you arent a failure. get that straigt right off the bat. So what are you eating to get in your protein? Are you still on soft foods , Are you still doing protein shakes?
Look at everything you are eating. \\
If you can possible up your protein to 90 grams a day and also try to up your water intake. I know it is a weird concept that before surgery we starved to lose weight and now if you dont eat enough you wont lose.
Without being there it is hard to say. But call your doctor and nut. person.;. maybe they can tell you why and what is going on. You arent a failure tho. Love you Jan
Valerie,
Take a deep breath and repeat after me, I am not failing, I am not failing, I am not failing. I have never ever heard of anyone following their Doctor's instructions to the T and failing. I know folks get freaked out, I can too, but you just have to have faith that you're doing everything right and know that it will work. I am just two weeks out and sister you're doing great. I am not getting that much protein, water or exercise and I'm sure not lifting anything and I'm not melting the pounds off either but it seems like I stay the same for several days and then lose a pound, stay the same, lose a pound. I've been really sick with a cold/cough and know that has been affecting me but the main thing for you to know is you will lose it. At the end of the road you'll wonder why you were so shook up. I know it's not much help for you but try to relax. Don't stress. Your poor body thinks you're trying to starve it to death and it's going to hold on to every pound for awhile until it learns it's OK to let it go. AND, 9 pounds, WOO HOO!!! You're on the road with a brand new baby pouchie so relax, do what you know is right and I promise, guarantee, bet you money that you'll start losing soon.
And, you're doing the right thing by posting, our strength is in our comradeship. Love, hugs and relax!!!

Valerie,
The worst thing you can do is weigh EVERYDAY and compare your losses to other's losses. We are all different. Don't become a slave to your scale. For those first few months, just follow the PROGRAM and weigh in at your Dr appts. In no time you are going to see big changes, GUARANTEED!!!! I had NO scale in my house for those first months and I REALLY recommend that to you!!!! You have a new puch that won't fail you if you follow the rules so no matter what the scale says day to day, you are NOT failing. SOON you'll FEEL the difference in your clothes, so hang in there!!!!

Hi Val. RNY will not allow you to fail if you are following the plan. Your body is just holding on to the fluids it had gotten from iv and surgery. Also, remember I told you that I had a stall at 3 weeks? My body stalls alot.
The best thing you can do is just put the scale away until you visit Dr. R. I know how much of an obsession it is; you just want to know; but it is only depressing you right now.
Is there something you feel well enough to do that will keep you from obsessing about this? I recommend that you still take Logan to daycare, but see if you can find something that you enjoy. Can you work out more, go shopping, do you have any friends that don't work during the day? Just something that will occupy your mind for a while longer....
