I can't believe this is happening, I am totalling following the program, walking, drinking my water, eating only what's allowed and haven't moved the scale for 2 weeks-I am going insane! I have head there is a small percent of people who are not sucessful with this program, can I be one the first month?

Some people are considered lightweights and therefore lose slowly. What weight did you start out at? Are you getting in all of your protein so that your body will burn the fat and not simply store it? I had surgery with Dr. Hoehn's partner, Dr. Hitch**** in July and didn't have that problem. Don't get too tied to the scale. Are you losing inches and is it noticeable in your clothes? Are you dumping or having any problems like that? If not, you likely are doing fine and simply need to stay the course and things will eventually get better. If you're that concerned, you should call the docs office and talk to Nola or Billie. When are you do for another visit to the doc? I went at one month and then at 3 months and go later this month for 6 month check up. Have you gone to support group? Great people there who will help answer your questions. Feel free to contact me at any time with any quetions you might have. I'm confident that if you keep doing what you're supposed to do that you will be successful. Good luck. Scott

Lori, You poor thing. I know exactly how you feel. I went into surgery at 261 and lost a bunch of weight that 1st week. I dropped 15 pounds!! Then I was stuck at 247 for 2 1/2 weeks after that!! I didn't lose anything at all for the second and third week out of surgery. Then 4 days after those 2 weeks, the scale started moving again. I am now down to 232 as of this morning. I am only 5 weeks and 1 day out. Trust me, it will come off. I was asking the same questions once I ame home and got "stuck". Your body needs time to adjust. Think about the bigger picture. Your body was used to eating and eating. Now it is barely getting anything at all. Your body thinks it is starving and is holding on to all it can. Give it a few more days and it will start coming off. (Thanks Jan, that bit of info saved my life). It may not feel massive (at least my surgery didn't), but it is. More than half of your stomach is gone. It is still "raw" and needs time to adapt. In other surgeries, just as shoulders or knees, they tell you light loads and no activity for 6-8 weeks. That is for it to heal. The same goes for the tummy as well as your body. I got soooo discouraged that 1st month after surgery. As everyone on this forum kept telling me, it will get better, and it really truely does. As for the people that do not succeed on this program. I can imagine those are the ones that lose all the weight and then go back to their old habits once they realize that they can eat what they want. The new pouch can stretch and will if you abuse it. I can not imagine you failing if you follow all the rules. Keep your head up hun and keep posting. Posting and getting responses saved me that first month out and now I am doing nothing but rejoicing!!!

did you measure before you had your surgery. I bet you are losing inches. most people have catch up time. they lose weight then have standstills then lose more etc etc. like Scott said are your clothes getting loser? I weigh everyday or most days but i go more on what i feel like and how my clothes are getting looser everyday one me. Hang in there and do what you are suppose to do. eat enough protein and drink enough water and it will start again.; Im haveing a standstill myself right now too but not too worried about it. I know that i am doing everything right. so keep on keeping on it will happen . Jan
