February 15th is my big day!! I am so happy and really calm. I have an appointment pretty much every week between now and then and two the week before surgery. That's a lot of trips to Tulsa but it will be worth it. I can never thank you all enough for sharing your stories and support these past 2 years. I has really kept me holding on and fighting. So often the horror stories are all that are heard and the 1000's of success stories are ignored. The Missouri board will not be ignored that's for sure. Even through our tragedies and struggles we advertise our successes and the benefits of WLS .Each person has their own decision to make and we try to make sure they make their decisions through knowledge and not fear. I love this board and everyone on it! Dannielle

That is great news D!!! Like Momma J says, what a Gift to yourself!! I was not aware you were going to Tulsa. What made you chose that location? Did you know a doctor out there already? You are right, you have to hear both sides and always decide what is best for you personally. I know you will do just fine! Sherr

My best friend had surgery in Tulsa with Dr.Gorospe.He had come highly recommended by several people who had WLS where she worked. I checked him out and was so extremely impressed. He has been doing bariatric surgery for over 30 years. He has done over 4000 WLS. He was also the first person to do WLS laproscopically in Oklahoma. Tulsa is only about an hour and half or so from Joplin where I live-so it's a convenience too. I feel that I am in great hands,so it makes it a lot easier not to second guess my decision.I've done so much research too that I feel my decision is an informed one so I don't mind going up against other people's concerns and misconceptions. I try to use it as an opportunity to educate people about the real statistics and all of the success stories. I think that everyone should have correct information before making their decision.
