I NEED HELP!!!
I am finding that chocolate flavored protein drinks nearly gag me. Now remember that I'm stage one so can't have much excitement in my pouchie but please someone help me with a fruit, strawberry, cherry, lemon, orange, flavored drink. I am not getting all my protein down because I dread that awful taste. Thanks.

are you using the ON 100%whey protein powder? if so they have one that is Vanilla Ice Cream and you can mix your own flavorings with that. to make what ever taste you want that day,. This moring i made one with coffee and the vanilla ice cream one some carmel flavoring and a little almond flavoring yummy good. yesterday i put 1/2 cup frozen strawberries in a blender 8 oz of milk and my van protein powder and a tiny bit of extra splenda . the day before i used frozen blueberries. i know you probably cant have the fruit yet? but if not use the sugar free syrups you can get at any wal mart (devancia) they are on the top shelf above the coffee.
I had to stop the choc right after surgery too i couldnt take it . but love it again now.
but instead of buying ajug of the choc i just make my own with putting the s.f. nestles in it. Jan
Lana,
For stage 1, I used the Isopure vanilla protien powder made with milk. I added a packet of the Crystal Light to go packets to it, the single ones that you mix with water. I added the orange one and it made an orange smoothie that tastes like the orange cream popcicles. It was yummy. I also use instant vanilla coffee, a scoop of vanilla protien powder, some splenda and some sugar free creamer. I have not tried the chocolate Isopure, but they have other flavors too. I know they make some fruity flavors, but I will be finishing my vanilla jug before I go buy some more. I lived off of the orange protein shake when I was in stage 1. I have learned by trial and error what I can drink. More error than anything, but now, (in stage 2) I am addicted to my mocha shake. The coffee is decaf, and everything else is sugar free. It is soooo good and it lets me have my "coffee" and jump starts my day.
Kat,
Thank you so much. I made the orange smoothie this AM and it tasted so good. I just can't do chocolate right now. Ate them when I was doing my pre-op stuff and thought they were great, now UGGGGGGH. Saw the Dr. yesterday and he moved me up to stage two so that should help too. I know there's a huge list of smoothie recipes on here somewhere, I'm gonna find it now. Hugs and love and many thanks.

Lana,
I sooo know what you mean about the chocolate wanting to make you gag. When I was at the stage you are now, I was the same way. But I hadn't learned to be experimental yet.....so I kept getting it down the best I could. Thank goodness I finally figured out how to experiment with my shakes. lol
First thing I started doing was using the prepared Crystal Lights as the liquid in my shakes for a fruity flavor.
I also add a 1/2 banana most of the time. By the time I thought to do this, I could do bananas just fine.
This was before they came out with the single serving "on the go" Crystal Lights. I keep them on hand now and add those pretty often too. Like Kat, I really like the orange.
Also, I use a lot of DaVinci Syrups. You can get 2 or 3 flavors of that at Wal Mart, but I order mine directly from their web site. www.davincigourmet.com This way you can choose from all the flavors they have.....and there is a bunch of them.
Also, for extra ideas....you can do a search for protein shakes on the net. You can find a bunch of recipes there.
There used to even be a place here on OH that had a bunch of protein shake recipes. I'd have to hunt to see if they still have them.
Another idea is to make a peanut butter flavored shake.
Try this by using your soy milk as your liquid, crushed ice, peanut butter, vanilla protein powder, & a little Splenda.
Hang in there......this will pass. It takes a while to get your taste back....but it comes back.
I hope you are doing great. Call me if you ever want to talk.
Take care,
Glenna
