Is there anyone out there that would know how to repair old crochet pieces? I inherted all of these pillow cases from my mother and they all have the hand crochet things at the bottom. some are roses some are ladies etc but all have holes somewhere or the other in them. I am looking for someone that could repair them for me. If you can or know someone that can let me know. Jan
WARNING: FOR THOSE THAT DON'T LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT HUNTING AND STUFF PERTAINING TO THAT, YOU MAY NOT WANT TO READ THIS BUT IF IT DOESN'T ...ENJOY!!
Sorry Jan, I too am all thumbs when it comes to that kind of stuff! I know my Aunt Hazel could or at least in her younger years, she could. She is an ol pioneer woman...lol Seriously tho, the stories my Mom use to tell about her. My parents were raised in southern Mississippi and they were very poor and had to learn the old ways on everything. My Mom told me that her sister, my Aunt Hazel went out to get supper and she didn't mean to a restaurant or store...the back forty is where she headed! ..lol She not only brought it home and fried it up in a pan, she also hunted it down, killed it, field dressed it, carried or drug it back home, skinned it, cleaned it, cut it up, then she fried it in a pan. She was that way about everything, a very stern woman too. She was raised in a United Penecostal Church (for those that understand about the UPC religion) and she went by the book, let me tell ya! Never cut the hair, no make up, no jewelry, always wore dresses (would of loved to see her hunt in a dress...lol). I'm sure she wore long johns or something...probably like granny on the Beverly Hillbillies....lol
We laugh when we talk about her ol ways and me being an outdoors type person myself. I like to fish more than hunt and the only hunting I do is deer and I haven't done that since I got hurt. My Mom (at 59 years old) had Leukemia (first time) and had a bone marrow transplant. Aunt Hazel was the marrow donor (at 69 years of age I might add) and I was the platelet donor. Mom was such a girlie girl that we laughed and told her that after all the platelets I gave and all the marrow my Aunt gave she should be a great hunter now. It never happened, she was a girlie girl til the end but Mom was a very strong woman in her own right. She was left with 5 young kids to raise before there was help out their for families that needed it. She worked 2 jobs and got us all raised. Then she got stuck with Leukemia twice, melanoma, and breast cancer, the second belt with Leukemia was too much and she was tired. Love you Mom!
My Aunt Hazel is in her 90's now and fighting the biggest fight of her life...lung cancer! My sister told me in an email that shes winning that battle too...I had to smile, think back to the stories of her and think...no doubt! I know God has TOTAL control in that situation.
Anyway Jan....got off track a little there...lol
I use to sew quite a bit, now I fix things....a doll who's head fell off, a tiger with a rip in it's foot, a doll with a broken arm....grandkids, ya know!
Hubby's shirt buttons, dungeree buttons on his bib overalls. I use that tape and a iron for most things that need mended now, like hems, collars. Stuff that I like to do for hobbies would be beadwork and no, I'm not real good at it yet but I like it....someday I may even be good enough to make something for all us loser's and loser's to be
I think I had too much coffee this morning...lol I will be quiet for awhile now...Love & Prayers, Deb M
