Home from Surgery
I got home about 5pm last night. I have never been so glad to be home in my life!! Everyone at the hospital was great but it was just a miserable experience. I couldn't get comfortable, those beds are terrible and I had a roommate that had a constant stream of guests the whole time I was there. I had no privacy whatsoever and all of you who have already been through surgery know that a lot of privacy is required. I also go NO SLEEP.
I went to bed when I got home and slept for 12 hours. I feel tons better now that I'm home. Getting out of bed first thing is the worst. I feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck, but once I'm up and moving around for a little while it gets much better. I'm able to go up and down the stairs with no problem and even walked around Wal-Mart for about an hour today and finished up some last minute shopping. (After an hour I was more than ready to go..it might have been a little much for first full day home)
We found out right after surgery that I'm immune to morphine. I must say it was not a good time to find this out. I woke up in so much pain I thought I was dying (and was hoping that I would soon). Luckily, my sister was there and has the same problem and let them know that I needed to be given something else. I just wish she would have mentioned it earlier.
I'm just ready to put the whole hospital experience behind me and get to healing and living a normal life again. Despite it all I'm so glad to be on the losers bench!

Crystal, You really had a time!! Glad you are home and doing well. Welcome to the bench. You are officially a loser
The good thing about having surgery in Sedalia is you do get a private room. I also hate it when you get a room mate in the hospital. The last one I had in April was nosey , loud, and smelly, and I couldn't get any rest either so I do feel for you. Take it easy and don't overdo. Julia

Crystal,
Welcome home and congratulations. I'm having my surgery Tuesday, 12/26, and can't wait to join you on the losers side. Hoping to have a private room, but it's on a first come first served basis so we'll see. Keep positive and do what your Dr. says and you'll lose like crazy. Hugs and love,
Lana
