Surgery Tomorrow..

I'm getting packed for the hospital tomorrow and wondering what I should take. I know there are lists on the boards about things to take with you to the hospital but it's a LONG list and I know that all of that stuff probably isn't neccessary. My question is: What didn't you take to the hospital that you wish you had and what did you take to the hospital that you didn't need.

Don't take books, mags, music, or your computer. Take something that "covers your bits" that you can wear home, preferably a gown and robe, and shoes. You will NOT want to put on any type of pants!! A big gown, and warm robe would be perfect. TAKE: dove facial washes!!!! That was a life saver for me. You can use them to take a "sink bath" and after two days of feeling scummy, you will be thankful for these. Toothbrush and toothpaste and lip balm. THAT's IT. You will need pillows for the ride home as every bump will feel like a crator...but leave those in the car. GOOD LUCK!! Sherr

These aren't items to take but things that I did and I'm glad I did. I had my hair cut right before I went in... felt good to pamper myself. Also had the deep heat conditioning as well. Got some Nair and took care of the leggies as well. I arrived at the hospital silky smooth, exfoliated and smelling divine! *s*... Since you don't feel so keen right afterwards it helped make me feel human for that first week. I also took along a travel size of my mouthwasth since the hospital type is NASTY.. helps get the pucky taste out of your mouth after surgery. Ditto on the VERY comfy and none confining clothes for the trip home. If you have slip on shoes I would recommend that as well. Things I wish I had brought and DH had to go out and get them for me. De-caffeinated teabags of my favorite teas. Earl Grey, Constant Comment. etc. The slightly warm teas really soothed my tummy early out. They went over MUCH better than the room temp. or ice water that the hospital had. Plus the only thing that they had that was decaf was their coffee which was horrid too... and I'm a coffee drinker!.... GOOD LUCK on tomorrow......you have an EXCELLENT SURGEON!... Pixielf~*

good luck tomorrow Crystal please have someone tell us how you did as soon as possible. You will be fine. I did take my favorite pillow with me and had my hubby bring it into me as soon as i was in my room. felt so much better than the hospital pillows. Jan
