Question
Hi Tony's wife...sorry, don't know your name hun....my name is Debbie. I am still pre-op but I have heard the others talk about their stomachs,post-op. I have heard mention of a feeling of fullness, a feeling of "a fist" being in their stomach area but not pain....I should say too much pain. I think it's best you call his Dr office to find out for sure. There are so many things that can go along with having gastric bypass, I, personally can't keep up but again for safty sake, call his Dr. Another thing, make sure he gets up and takes walks. I know that is important to keep blood clots and blockages in the intestines away. Little walks at first, then add gradually! Lots of water too but sip, sip, sip! Good Luck!
Hello again. MOST IMPORTANT THING!!!
TELL HIM TO TAKE THE TINIEST SIPS.....NOT SWALLOWS...... Think of it like he's trying to concerve every drop like he was on a dessert island. Sounds like he's swallowing normally, and his new tiny tummy is very raw and healing.
Now, for me, and I am almost 3 months out, coffee totally dehydrates me. I do like warm drinks and like hot teas (some times) and LOVE Sugar Free Hot Apple Cider...you can find it in the powder packets like hot chocolate.
But it is soooooooooo important that he take those baby sips, for the first two months or so, that Hard feeling could be he's "rushing" too much liquid down a new tiny place.
Keep us posted.
It can also be trapped gas. I had that problem when I came home. I was so uncomfortable everytime I took the littlest swallow. It felt like I had a truck parked on my upper stomach. Does he feel uncomfortable between sips? You may want to try a warm water bottle on his upper tummy, where the pain is. That is what helped me the most. That heat was so comforting and it helped to pass the gas. Once I got rid of it, the painful part went away. I still can't drink plain water though. It makes me sick. That is the only thing so far that I can't drink. Tell him to try a warm (NOT HOT) water bottle or a heating pad set on low for about 15 min. This might help.....
