Just got off the phone with Alan. He said in spite of all that's going on, he actually feels pretty good today - he said he feels 100%. They did a chemical stress test on him today (does not have results back) and they also did an Echocardiogram later in the day after he got back to his room. He says it's likely his issue Saturday night was a mild heart attack - had the symptoms...pressure on left side, pain radiating into his left arm and jaw. He said it was rather painful but after they got him to the ER the low dose aspirin and nitro did the trick to get the pain under control. Since then he's felt fine. Says now that they've got him on plavix and other meds for high cholesterol and high blood pressure, and also heparin too to thin his blood out. The leg - they got cultures back today and he's got a rather nasty staph infection. So he's got antibiotics pumping in as well. They've already done an x-ray on the leg and tomorrow they plan to do the bone scan that Claudette mentioned in order to determine if the infection has gotten into the bone. They're also discussing doing a scope to get a better look at his heart and they are getting Dr. Edwards involved in case what they do involves going down the throat...does not want issues with the new stomach. Alan says he's got numerous Doctors working with him - he just wants to get out and get home. He says he feels like he's taking a step forward and four back but he's excited that his weight loss is up to 60 pounds. What amazing optimism he has!!! I let him know that he's got alot of folks praying for him - he appreciates it!!! Keep the prayers going - hopefully he'll be out of the woods and home soon! Cards Fan Springfield, MO
