I just had my lap band placed on Tuesday in St Louis. I am amazed how easy recovery has been! Is this typical? I havent used any of the pain meds they prescribed, and only took childrens Tylenol a couple times since coming home. Tummy feels a little rumbly at times, but all is good. How quickly do they usually do the first fill? Does it irritate the stomach again and make pain increase? Learning as I go. doug

Hello Doug, I'm Debbie. Welcome to the MO board! I haven't had my Lap Band yet, still in the process so I really can't help you there but I sure would like to know all about your wls experience! I have no idea on what to expect. I think my Dr said it would be two weeks before the first fill but don't quote me on that! The stuff I would like to know is...did you have alot of co-morbid problems and if you did, did you have alot of pills to take before wls and are you still having to take them now? Can you do all the things that you did before? Tell me, tell me, tell me....please!! ...lol Deb M.

They normally do the first fill at 4-6 weeks. I had mine done at 4 weeks. It dioesnt irriitate the stomach, but you will probalby have to be on liquids for a day or so after the fill and soft foods for a couple of days after that.. The fills are very fast and easy. I'n glad you have had such an easy recovery. Mine was the same way. I was also amazed at how easy it was. I'm 3 months out from my surgery, so if you have any more questions I will be glad to help if I can.

Fills are different for everyone. I never have had any pain with any of my fills. Don't worry about that at all. Liquids for a day or so after a fill is a good idea. Glad your surgery went so well! Janet in KC 368/280/199 June 2004 post op
