Any ideas???
OK, now that I am on stage 2, the paperwork said that if I did well with the high protein liquids and the group A list that I could catiously try the group B foods. The thing that gets me is the pureed meats. What on Earth could you do with that? How would you prepare pureed meat without it turning into something yucky and looking like baby food? Just wondering. That is the only thing I haven't tried off of that list. My baby tummy is handling food very well, just not very much of it. I still can't eat more than a few bites and I am full. That is a good thing though. Let me know if any of you have any ideas.....
Kat...
It is really going to be hit and miss at this point. Some folks can tolerate meats right away and others cannot. It was a LONG time before I could eat any type of beef... I found that I could tolerate chicken earlier out than beef. I had to make sure that it was super moist and I would make a blend much like a chicken salad.
As Jan stated it was alot easier to try to get my protein in with drinks and other type of beverages. I also made alot of protein pudding .... the coolness with the extra added protein boost really soothed me.....
Now that I am years out I find that I can pretty much eat all types of meats. Depending on the type of course will dictate how full I get ...
The idea of pureed meats just made me want to hurl early out...and the thought of it even now invokes the same feelings...
BLECH....

Well, I'm gonna try this one more time. I have been knocked offline 3 times trying to write it...lol
I read a post awhile back where the person was eating refried beans with lowfat cheese and was loving it. Beans are high in protien...if you like them! You might wanna add a little water to the beans to make them more mushy but they would be a good source of protien. I'm still pre-op and I'm having lap band so I don't know a lot about RNYs but you could look into it if it is something you think you'd like.. Nice meeting you Kat...Deb M
Hi Kat, glad you are doing well. Pureed meat really isn't bad, especially chicken and turkey. Before surgery, I would chop warm chicken or turkey and make a lite "gravy" and serve it over bread, so pureed meat wasn't a stretch for me at all. Beef wasn't something to try in the early stages for me, surgeon's instructions to stay away till 3 months postop. Tuna salad without anything crunchy like celery, onion, or pickle relish was really good in the pureed stage for me, I added spices till I found the way I liked it best. FYI...babyfood doesn't taste bad, just a little bland from lack of salt and spice. Hope you find something you like.

I'm like Jan and others, I've stayed away from pureed meats, I've tried everything else, pureed meats just dont do it for me, I'll just wait til I can have reg. meat except red meat we cant have for 6mo.
Like Deb said, if ya like refried beans, they are good, I add lowfat shredded cheese which adds more protein. I also add cheese to mashed sweet taters too and stuff like that, not to much tho just enough for taste. I saw in a post on another board awhile back where sumone had pureed tuna...eeeekkkk....that just dont appeal to me lol.
