OHHHH BOY!!!
Ohhhh boy, what a day. It seems like everytime I have to go to Sedalia, it takes ALL day. We just got home a little while ago. Guess what?!?!? I was cleared to go to stage 2 and I just ate an egg. Margie said that a lot of people have trouble eating them scrambled because they get stuck. She told me to fry it, with Pam, and make it over easy so the yoke is still runny. Oh boy, was that ever good!!! I have not had a problem with it and have not gotten sick. YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!! Oh, and I can not wait until the morning when I can try some cottage cheese. I am going to have some tomato soup for dinner. I bought a few of those Campbell's Soup at Hand cups. It will be wonderful. The options for stage 2 seem endless compared to the stage 1. Oh, and about the water. I told Dr. H. that drinking just a sip of water makes me feel like I have downed a whole 2 liter of Coke, and he said, "Ok, then, don't drink it." Those were his exact words. I was so shocked. He said get your fluids in anyway you can, even if it was by juice, coffee, or whatever. Margie said there are tons of people that buy Propel by the case. I told Dr. H. that it was odd that I have such a big problem with regular water, but I do not have any trouble with the flavored water. He said just get it in anyway that you can. Ok, now for the GREAT NEWS. I stepped on the scale at his office and it said 249.6. Can you believe it?? On the day of my consult in Oct., his scale said 271.5 and pre-op was 261.5. That is almost 22 pounds since my consult and almost 12 since my surgery. I know the 12 is not the 14 pounds from my scale, but I was in my jammies with no shoes on. I was weighed before surgery in my hospital gown and robe with slipper socks, so I am telling myself that it is closer to the 14 pounds!! One bummer that happened today was the battery on my scale went out. Can you say omen? Oh well, just have to get a new battery or a new scale. Probably be easier to buy a new scale. Julia said she could see the loss in my face. That felt so good. Someone noticed!!! OK, 3 hours later I get to finish this post. We decided to go to Wal-Mart on a moments notice. Anyway, it felt sooo good to have someone notice the weight loss. Up until just a few seconds ago, today was the first day I felt like myself. It was a good day. I got to spend some time with Julia, and I got to meet Gretta. Such sweethearts. It made that long drive well worth it. I know I have been griping a lot this last week, but all of you were right. It does get better. Mine did all of a sudden. HOW I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!
Congrats on the weight loss thus far.
Be careful with anything that has caffeine in it. Caffeine causes a diuretic effect and if you are not getting in enough fluids to begin with it can cause some problems. Also the caffeine can sometimes irritate someone who is so newly out from surgery.
I had problems as well with tap water but could tolerate flavored waters much better early on. Now (I'm well over 2 years out) I can drink all sorts of waters (even tap) with no ill effects.....
Best wishes...
