Let me re-introduce myself:
I don't post a whole lot, don't know why?
I do read every post and do pray for you all. I am looking forward to our supper meeting on the 19th in Sedalia. It's a 5 hour drive for me to Sedalia, from where we live.
Let me re-introduce myself:
I am a 53 year old, married to my soul mate, will be 36 years on Jan 30.
We had 3 children, 2 boys (Michael, Matthew) and 1 girl (Tina).
Michael (34) is a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force, has been in for almost 18 years, right now stationed in Omaha Nebraska. Tina (36) is a LPN, IV certified, she works in geriatrics, LOVES the old people. She has been a nurse for about 12 years. She lives 10 miles from us in Greenville MO. I say we had 3 children because my baby (boy) Matthew (22 years old) committed suicide May 1996. So that was one of the things that started my weight problems. I became so severely depressed that I didn't care if I lived or died. I ate everything that didn't eat me first, I had a hysterectomy ( no hormones=no metabolism). In 5 years between 1992 and 1998 I lost my mom, my dad, my baby Matthew, and my first cousin who was more of a sister to me than a cousin. She died in her sleep at 38 years old from a blood clot exploding her heart.
So as you can see it was just to much for me to handle. I had never had a weight problem until all that. Then in 1998 I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. It took quite a few years for them to finally decide what was wrong with me and why I was in so much pain! I also have DDD and DJD in my spine (a family inheritance). I have OA and between that and my back and the Fibromyalgia I still suffer from pain, some days worse than others. It has gotten somewhat better but WLS will not fix the deterioration of bone!
I have 4 grandchildren, Sydney who turns 17 today! Sarah 15, Skylar (girl) 7 and Jacob 3. Also have one on the way due in May 07.
My husband Dennis is an ordained General Baptist Minister. He pastors a chur*****obalt Village, a small town next door to Fredericktown, MO, We have been there for 4 years.
Before I became disabled by all the skeletal problems (hence not much exercise-adding even more to the weight gain) I worked as a Medical Records Coder. I had done that for the last 5 years before I had to quit working. At that time I was working for Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff, MO. I have worked in the medical field as a Coder, Ward Secretary, CMT, CNA, and Medical Records Clerk, and other caps that I have worn , to numerous to mention.
We live in a small Southeast MO. area just outside Silva, MO. approx. 120 miles south of St. Louis. We live on a Boy Scout Camp (Camp Lewallen) my husband is the "Camp Ranger" We have lived here since 1983. I am originally from Farmington, MO. and my husband is from Desloge, MO.
I started checking into the WLS a couple years ago. Had my surgery 8-17-06 I weighed 300 pounds and my BMI was 47.0. The last time I weighed was 11-17-06, 3 months after surgery and I weighed 235 and my BMI was 36.8. "300/235/150"
I cannot ever give God enough glory for what he has done in my life for I know without Him I would have never gotten the WLS so easily. I have Medicare and of course had to go to Dr. Hornbostal as he was the only doctor at the time that was trying to get the COE. But I feel God was doing all the driving and steering me in the right direction and towards Dr. H. And BTW he is a wonderful doctor.
I went to my seminar April 5, 2006. Had my first appointment with Dr. H. for my evaluation on May 10, and on May 24 they called and gave me a surgery date for August 17. I had no hoops to jump through, didn't have to have a psych eval. Didn't have to do anything except the anesthetist wanted me to have a stress test due to family history. No problems on the stress test.
I am feeling so good these days within myself that I stand amazed everyday at what God and the WLS has done for my life.
My husband has started the process of trying to get approval for WLS by his insurance company, please pray for that to happen.
Well that's my story! I am glad and proud to know( some I have met in person ) the people on this board and I think that you are all a great bunch of folks!
Have a great rest of the day!!!
Brenda

Brenda, wow, what a story. Sounds like you have been given your share of trials, but are coming out on the other side. So happy for your weight loss. Keeeeeep it up lady! Hope everything goes well for the hubby.
I am like you, too far to go to the support meetings that seem to be so active. Darn it, I would love to meet my new friends in person.
