medicaid and drs

hello im new and i was wondering about how i go about doing this wls . do i contact medicaid first or do i speak to a dr first ? i have missouri state medicaid . can someone help me , i have found the list of drs already though .

Deborah, You can call the doctors office to see if they accept medicaid. Some do and some don't . I don't know if they require a center for excellence like medicare. Call the MO. Medicaid and ask or go on line. There might be a certain surgery they cover and some they don't. Good luck and don't give up. I am waiting for my consult in March the soonest I can get in. Also look up any support groups for WLS and attend one they are good info. You can also look for the seminars by the Dr's. Dr. Hornbostels seminar is free and the first tuesday of the month in Sedalia. Keep watching this message board because I believe there are others from your area who can give you more precise info. Hi Deborah Lee, I also have Missouri Medicaid, and so far have not had any luck at all finding someone who takes it. I am hoping someone will pop up who has done this with Medicaid who can help us both!!! Welcome.........I have been here before, but its been a while, I got discouraged and left for a while, but now I am back again.

hey Robin , I really hope so too , sorry its taken me a while to reply back ...been busy with kids and school things havent had much time for the computer . My sister mary had this surgery done (rny) in 2003 , she told me that call the drs offices and make sure when i get an appointment to take all my meds with me . which would be about 1-2 bags full (lol) . dont give up , it might take some time but eventually we will get there hun good luck Debs
