Can anyone tell me how long does the naseau feeling go on. My surgery was 30 October and I still feel sick when I drink the protein drinks and the water?

Haven't had the surgery yet but have heard from some, Andrew in particular, that Dr. Hornbostel is giving his patients a B-complex vitamin with Thiamin to help with nausea so you might ask your MD about that. Hope it stops soon. Hugs and love, Lana

Thank Lana, Im taking B - Complex now and pepcid AC morning and night and it doesn't really help much. So I've decided to call the doctor on Monday to see what else can I take so that I can at least get in all my fluids although some days are better that others. Linda

I am getting close to four months out and i still have days that my stomach just doesnt want me to put anything at all in it. I was told that it take about six months for your pouch to really heal so i guess that could be the reason. But call your doctor and see what he says by all means. Jan

Linda, I dont think it is normal to have nausea that long, it would be wise to call the doctor and see for sure. He could get you something to take for it anyway. Hope you are feeling better soon and Welcome to the losing side. Hugs, Kathleen

Thanks guys for all the help. I know that some people they actually perscribe a naseau medicine and I will probably be one of them. Today has been an ok day. 8 oz of water and 2 protein drinks is all I've had. I don't feel any naseau. So I guess today is a good day.

I had surgery on 7/11/06 by Dr. Hitch**** your doctor's partner. I had nauseau at mealtime quite frequently and still do get it on occasion. Everyone is different, but I don't think you're unusual in having the nauseau. What part of KC are you from? I live in south KC near Bannister Mall area. Have you gone to a support group meeting yet? Keep in touch and good luck. Scott

Hi Scott, I had a good day yesterday, no nauseau at all. I even had my 2 protein drinks and I had 2 oz chicken and some spinach. YOOOHOOOO.... I will be attending my first group meeting this Thursday in Shawnee Mission. Take care and good luck to you also. I was told that sometimes this feeling last for about 6 months. whew. Linda

I can totally relate to the constant nausea. I had my surgery Nov 3rd and I am ALWAYS feeling sick. I did have to go in for a Thiamine shot and that helped for a little bit. I cannot drink the protein shakes or water. I do pretty good with hot tea so that might be something to try just to get your fluids in. Hope you feel better!
