Hi everyone, I am still stuck in the house after the snow storm on Friday morning. ( Or Thursday night.) All I know is I woke up to about 18 inches of snow outside. So I have some time to tell a little about myself. My name is Gretta and I am 32 years old. I am married with 3 beautiful children. I work as a substitute teacher for the Sedalia school district. I weigh about 270 and need to be about 150, but I am so scared to have this surgery. I was supposed to have in March but cancelled it. So now I am trying again. My surgery date is for Jan 11th. I have some days where I am positive that I am gonna have the surgery and days I tell myself "Gretta do this on your own dont have the surgery" I dont know what to do so I have turned to you guys for some guidence. I hope you can help me out. Oh and sorry for the horrible spelling there is not a spell check on this site so I am in major trouble there. I think I am going to go to the support group on the 12th at bothwell hospital. Are any of you going to be there? Gretta

Gretta since you live in Sedalia why dont you come to our little get together on the 19th at the Golden Corral. just a casual supper with a bunch of us. some pre ops some post ops it is at 6pm. it started as the fact that myself and two others post ops have a doctors appointment with Dr. Hornbostel on the 19th and decided to stay and have supper together that night and several others have said they would like to come meet us too. so if you would like to come and meet up with a bunch of us. probably about 20 then you are more than welcome . please bring your hubby as most of us will have our better halfs with us too. wont be at the support group in Sedalia since i live below Springfield but will be there on the 19th. Maybe you can gather a little more information about what is going on with the surgery and all. have you been to one of Dr, Hornbostels seminars yet? That is probably the first step that you need to do if not. Hope to see you on the 19th and please come in on the board daily we have loads of really good people here and maybe some can answer your questions. Jan

I think I will come on the 19th. It will be great to meet all of you. Yes I have been to Dr. Hornbostel's seminar. I have also had the appointment with him. I didnt start to get nervous until I read all the things that can go wrong. You know that folder he gives you to read. That stuff got me thinking the worst. I am gonna start thinking more positive and wait till I meet you guys and go to that group meeting on the 12th. I have been getting on here everyday and it is helping me alot. Thanks, Gretta

Gretta, I take it you have been to a seminar, considering your surgery date is Jan. 11th. First of all, it is scary to know you are having the surgery. We have all gone through this and no one can make the final decision except you. All I can tell you is that the surgery changed my life and I am able to do so much more than I used. to do. I would do it all over in a minute. And I am much older than you. (read my profile). Please consider coming on the 19th as Jan invited you. I plan on being there - that is if we dont get dumped on with snow again. Email if you have any questions. Colette

Gretta, Welcome again. No one can make the decision about surgery for you but I have to ask why you'd think you could do this on your own this time when I'm sure you've tried many times before and either failed or lost and gained it all back and then some. You are so young and with children, you deserve to live your life to the fullest and surgery can make such a difference if you remember that it is a tool to help you change your life forever. Your children will enjoy having a mother who can run and play with them and you deserve life. Don't be afraid, grab for life!!! Hugs and love Lana
