Welcome to the Missouri Board. I am having surgery, Dr. Edwards, December 27, and I have to go two weeks on the liquid diet. So, Thanksgiving was my Christmas dinner. I am so ready for surgery, been waiting six months for Insurance approval. I understand about the scared and excited. I'm much more excited than scared but there is that tiny "OMG I'm really doing this" in the back of my mind too. Keep posting, we love you and let us know your date for sure.
Hugs and love
Lana
Hi Lana, I was not sure about the two weeks for GBP but since you have Dr. Edwards as I do, I can be sure of doing that too. Some of the books I have read say two days. But if two weeks will make the surgery safer then I will tough it out. I spent Thanksgiving in Virgina with my son and his family, he is in the Navy and stationed there. I figgured the dinner there was also Xmas dinner too. My appointment is tuesday and Mary Trampler said they would like to get me in before the first of the year. I will be 64 years old the 15 th of december, but I still have a lot of living to do and cant wait to get THIN!!!!!!!! Wish you luck on your surgery and may God be with you. Glenda
Glenda,
My doctor had me on nothing but protein shakes for two weeks to help shrink the liver so it wont be so hard to get to the stomach. I was scared and excited and I went though the whole process alone, I had no family members to back me when I did my surgery, so I was 400 miles from home and alone. But it was all good. I would do it all again if I had to. I have lost 107 lbs in 7 months and feel like a whole new person. Please keep us posted on your update. We will all pray for you.
God Bless
Kathleen
Hi Jan, I read your online journal, that was great, Ihave started a journal, have to get my husband to do a before pic. I need to lose 150 lbs, I have taken off 20 lbs since the end of July, but put a few lbs back on over Thanksgiving. Not proud of my self. I havnt done the (last Meal) thing but have been eating things I know I wont be able to eat in quite a while, in moderation. I just want to get it over with. Glenda
Welcome and good luck on your surgery process. My doctor didn't require me to go to an all liquid diet before surgery until 2 days before. But, all docs do things a little differently. Don't be scared, it is a tremendous experience to regain your life back. I had surgery on 7/11/06 and have lost 134 pounds and would do it again in an instant. It will all be worth it. Good luck again and keep in touch.

Glenda,
Welcome to the Mo Board.
I had the gastric bypass in May of 2004, Dr. Hodges was my surgeon with Dr. Edwards assisting.
I was in on the beginning of the bariatric program and at that time instead of the 2 week liquid diet, we had to lose 10% of our body weight. Figure that up
.....that sure seemed like a lot, and it took me longer than 2 weeks to lose it too.
It was well worth it though.
Hope you have your date soon.
Keep us posted.
Glenna
