Good Saturday Morning All! I have an exciting day planned - My sister, B-I-L, hubby and I are going motorcycle shopping. I am the only one left in the group that needs to buy one. I am going to wait until spring to make the purchase, but looking today to see what bike is right for me! Collette - I am the Business Manager for a contruction company. We do primarily earthwork and have projects all over the Midwest. I love my job too! I have great bosses! Enjoy your weekend. I hope you got some chick flicks to enjoy. BTW - why no rice? I am surprised and saddened about Melissa suffering so much, but relieved to hear that she is recovering. Definitely keeping the prayers going for her. I think she will love all the cards. Have a great Saturday! Marilyn

Marilyn, I'm "Claudette" not "Colette" In answer to your rice question: As a post op gastric bypass patient, the whites that we are supposed to limit to very, very little for the rest of our lives are white potatoes, white flour, sugar, and white rice. Refined carbs are evil! But rice in particular swells in the pouch, no matter how long it's cooked, and even very small quantities are very painful for me to eat. And the pain lasts a long time. I would rather fill my pouch with protein and complex carbs. The chinese I ordered last night was beef and chinese vegetables. It was wonderful! Have a great day motorcycle shopping. Hugs, ClaudetteK

Afternoon All! Thank God that Melissa is okay! Thank you all for keeping the prayers going! Welcome Home Jan! Congrats Brenda! Thank you Claudette! Glad to hear your doing good Andrew...sorry I couldn't be there for the wheelchair races! Have a question! I go to the shrink on Monday. It's gonna be a 2 hour session and I wanted to know if they will want my whole story or just the facts about now and wls? If they want the whole story, it's gonna take longer then two hours or someone there better be taking notes because I will have to talk fast...lol I better start condensing! You guys have almost talked me into RNY instead of Lap Band with all the fast weight loss but my gut feeling is for me to stay with the Lap Band but can't help this feeling of teetering from one to the other!. I just want this weight off NOW!! Maybe, someday there will be a pill that we can take where the weight will just melt off! The more weight, the bigger the pill. Maybe with what we are going through now will help out future generations! Love & Prayers, Deb M

that is the main reason i went with the rny instead of the lap band. i thought about the lap band for a long long time but the fact that it would take so long for all the weight to come off was my main reason for changing to the rny. that was my resons and also the fact that you dont have near as many restrictions on what you can eat. and i wanted that. I wanted to not be able to eat sweets , fats or things that werent good for me so another reason for the rny. but i also know lots of people that have the lap band and love it. I thought that maybe if the weight came off slower that my skin would have more time to shrink back into normal but a dermatologist told me that it wouldnt help . That if you are over 50 and have lots of weight the skin is probably stretched out past the point of going back into place. that if you are young then it might but not at my age. so that was my reasons. I had to laugh at you about the condensed version of your life. they only talk about what you want to talk about . the things that might be bothering you i guess. mainly they want to know if you are smart enough to follow directions i think.lol you will be ok dont worry about it. once you get that you have everything ready huh? then they can give you a date? maybe you can get a date soon. Yes Jan, this should be the last hurdle before my WLS but I'm NOT holding my breath! I know Jan, Andrew... the weight loss is phenomenal! I just don't know, the biggest problem I have with the RNY is I can't change my mind once it's done, with the LB, I can! With all the probable surgeries I have in my future I afraid that having the RNY might cause problems and I don't want my micro-surgeon having any problems working on me because I decided I wanted RNY instead of Lap Band like he suggested! He and I went through this once before....it's when I learned to trust that HE knew what he was talking about! Before my first back surgery, he and I were looking over my MRI, he said I had several disc that were messed up but he felt the worst was L5/S1 and he would only work on one at a time, he didn't do multiples in one surgery. I argued that I thought it was L4/L5. He said there is one way to find out for sure but that it would really hurt, he said I could have a Discogram! Big, Brave Deb says lets do it, lets see.....I don't suggest to ANYONE to have this done! He was right, twice, it did hurt and it was L5/S1.....when I told him that, he had to smirk and say "I told ya so" and laughed, I had to laugh with him. He knew I was stubborn and hard-headed...he's just like me! We get along, great! I'm thinking about emailing him to see what he says. We'll see... Yes Andrew, God, the Great Physician will have the FINAL word! By the way, they told me that I did great during the Discogram, they said that most people cry and some scream! I had to lay on my side on a hard, cold table and tell them when it hurt as they stuck needles into my already painful disc shooting dye into them and the one that hurt the worst was the one needing fixed first! I moaned, then moaner a lil louder and even louder into an almost scream when they hit L5/S1. I pray everyone has a good evening! Love & Prayers, Deb

Hey hey Deb, Don't worry about missing the wheel chair races I'll make sure when YOUR in the hospital they hold em again and I'll try to come up and see what kind of race you can do LOL Hey the reason I went with the RNY is cuz with the lapband you can still eat sweets and it not bother you as much, esp malts, milk shakes, ice cream cuz it just eases on down the pipe. I really couldnt trust myself to totally make that lifestyle change knowing I could still do that and plus I was just ready for a total lifestyle change period. For me food was a big addiction, much like drugs(cocaine etc) and I was so ready to give it up so the RNY seemed the best for me plus I know its what the Lord wanted me to do also. Like Jan and the others I just wanna get these couple bodies off me lol they are weighing me down Bless ya Deb, Andrew

Claudette I forgot to answer your question of where Pilot Knob was lol. Im about 75 or 80 miles straight south of st. louis, 22 miles from Farmington kind of in the boonies lol. It's about a 3 1/2 hr drive to springfield I believe from here otherwise I'd be coming to your support groups each month. I'll make it there soon tho, thats a promise Andrew

I'm great with faces but not so much with names - sorry about that. We did have a nice time in Kansas City. I have the bike picked out that I want - a Kawasaki Vulcan Classic LT - now I just need to save up some $$$. We did a little shopping on the plaza and ate at Hibachi's. I had fried rice with my chicken. Guess that will eventually be a thing of the past. Actually refined carbs are evil for everyone - just worse for those like me that have a hard time controlling the amount Marilyn B.
