Cardiologist Appointment

Hi, Had my annual appointment with my Cardiologist. I passed my stress test with flying colors. However, she did a sonogram of the arteries in my neck and told me that I have "slight thickening of the arteries). She said this is what leads to plaque. She gave me samples of prescription fish oil. I'm on 40 mg of lipitor and she may add trichor. She thinks WLS is a great idea! My Mom and I go every year together (since 2000 when my Mom's baby sister died from massive heart attack at the age of 48). It was nice that Dr. Crouse (my cardiologist) talked to my Mom about WLS. She also faxed Dr. H the okay for my surgery. Needless to say, the "thickening of the arteries" has gotten my attention. Any doubt of whether or not I was pursuing the right thing has vanished. Apparently Dr. Crouse faxed a copy of the reports to my PCP while I was there and he even called me around 4pm to make sure I knew about the test results. He wasn't sure if I had just the tests done today or if I actually saw Dr. Crouse. My PCP has always approved of WLS for me. I thanked him for taking the time to call me and discuss the test results with me. I've been waking up with horrible head aches in the back of my head on and off for months. I think now my PCP wants to go ahead and do a MRI of my head. Hopefully will get that done sometime next week. Please keep me in your prayers. Dena sent all the information to my new insurance company this week. I'm going to call them the middle of next week and see when I can expect an answer. I'm praying for an approval the FIRST time around. Take care, Debbie D.

Debbie, First I want to tell you that I'll be praying for a speedy approval for you. Second, I want to tell you that my favorite doll as a child was named Debbie D. Just took me back a minute when I read your signature. It sounds as if you have probably found your problem and the solution before any more major health situation happens. WOO HOO!!! Keep us informed as you progress. Lana

Hi, Lana: I had no idea there was a doll named Debbie D.! I will have to do some research on that one. Let me tell you the history behind my name. My maiden name begun with an "F". My married name begins with a "D". My Mom had to have her gallbladder removed when I was two days old. Back then it was MAJOR surgery. My Dad took care of me at night. My Aunt Fredia and Uncle Everett came to stay with my Dad and helped take care of me, during the day, the two weeks my Mom had to be in the hospital. My Uncle Everett and my Grandma Sanders always called me "Debbie D". It wasn't until I was in my early twenties I asked him why. He told me it stood for "Debbie Darlin'". I know it is just too sweet! So although my married name does begin with a "D" I always think of my nick name growing up and it brings a smile to my face. I'm going to start taking the prescription fish oil today. Hopefully it will help. I know for certain that, Lord willing, I am going to be having surgery. Hopefully in January or February. Take care, Debbie D.
