vitamins
Good morning, Vesta. I use Bariatric Advantage. They make everything we need, and they are specifically made for bariatric patients. Their multi-vitamins are chewable and orange flavored, and I think they taste really good. They also make calcium citrate lozengers that you suck on in three different flavors. I have the cinnamon ones. It's like having a treat three times a day. I also take their "under the tongue" B12 tablets and their B Complex capsule. I've been real happy with them and my blood work has been coming back excellent. You can find them at www.bariatricadvantage.com, or www.bariatriceating.com. I think they are about the same price wise at both places, but well worth the money.
Vesta,
early pre-op I used the Bugs Bunny chewables, they're sugar free. (later changed to prenatal vits from Sam's). Other things I take are, B-12 sublingual, calcium citrate, flax oil, stool softeners, GAS-EX, antacid (ranitidine). Not all docs are the same on this so it's good to ask yours but I HIGHLY recommend having some Gas-Ex while in the hosp. You can now buy the strips that disolve on your tongue so you have nothing to swallow. I've never had any trouble swallowing even the large calcium pills though, it's scarey at first, cause you just think they'll get stuck but it's never happened.
Women who still have a monthly period also need to take iron and you want ot be sure not to taek it with the calcium. : )
