FRIDAY WHATS HAPPENING
I cant believe this week is almost over all ready. Seems like it flew by. My green house is 90%done now. The siding is complete on all buy one side, then hooking up the electrical. I am putting my shelves together today and once that is done will transfer all of my plants into the green house. Im excited to have it finished. Also today I am cutting off all my elephant ears and cannas and covering them with Straw. The heavy frost we got the last two night did them in. It is going to look really sad in the garden without anything now. Even the mums are all black and need to be cut back. Oh well this happens each and every year and it will be pretty again soon. And I have the green house to play in now too.
I went yesterday and had my hair cut and colored . My operator did a double take when I came in the door. WOW was all she said. You have really lost the weight girl. I got the truck inspected but still didn't get the new tags. This girl at the lic place wasn't the brightest bulb in the socket and rather than argue with her will just go back tomorrow morning and show her where she is wrong. I wanted to get home yesterday and didn't feel like arguing with her. Lol
Have you all noticed how many flocks of geese have flew over in the last week? Day before yesterday on my walk I know I saw at least 15 different large Vs of them. Way high. I guess they know that it is getting ready to be really cold in the North.
Marilyn B: as I have told others keep yourself busy. Plan things that take a good amount of time to do each day. Plan out your weeks with things you need to do. And follow thru. You will be surprised how quickly the time goes by when you have you days filled with stuff to do.
I know it is exciting to be getting ready to start on this new path and it is even more exciting to get to the other side and start the rest of your life. It will happen. Hang on.
Barbara Scott: thanks for the reminder of why no other pain meds for arthritis. That would be great to have you join and meet up with us on Dec 19th. We will have our own little mini meeting that day. Lol
We will surely keep you in the loop about the time and place to meet.
Andrew: your more than welcome . I enjoy being peoples Angels . And am always honored when they ask me.
Hope the crazy test tomorrow is ok. Have you been studying ? Lol
That will be a long drive for Susan to have to make each day while you are in the hospital. Wish I lived up there I would sit up a room in my home for out of town patients. Lol
Yes Melissa's surgery is the same date as your surgery. Yes that is going to be a busy day of prayer. Melissa in Columbia, You in Sedalia and Alan in Springfield. A lot going on that day.
Not sure you will be able to get up off your knees yet by the 19th of December but you can try. Lol guess we can have our own support meeting that day.
Yes I knew about Roger he is listed on the surgery page of Dr. Hornbostels. I signed his surgery page and he answered me .
Melissa: I know what you mean about the heavy clothes. I am wondering how I am going to stay warm all winter. Seems strange to think about that since I have always been so hot natured.
Im glad that you are taking your laptop and Terry can keep us informed about how you are doing after surgery. Do you know how long you will be in the hospital?
Sorry to hear that about your father in law losing his lic. I know it has to be a blow to his independence.
It would be a hard thing to get use to I would think.
Barbara T: I think we are the last people who can see ourselves as not being the fat chick that we use to be.
I don't see as much as everyone says they see. I can see some difference but it isn't a lot.
I don't know what the average rate of losing weight is right. I think somewhere in between 2 to 3 pounds a week but that is just a guess, so don't quote me on that. I do know the heavier you were to start with the faster you will lose especially at first. And I bet you have lost a lot of weight. Go by how much you have dropped in clothing sizes and sounds like you have went down a lot.
So glad your hubby is home now. Will continue to pray for him and his continued healing.
Alan: so glad you got the good protein now. It will really make a difference after surgery when that is about all you can live on when you advance to full liquids. Are you going to both support meetings this month? Will be anxious to see you. Surgery is getting closer and closer. Will be here before you know it.
Huera: did you figure out how to get the angel listed on your profile? Im afraid I cant help you much on it since they changed all of this around I don't know if stuff works the same or not. I know mine doesn't.
Not long before the big date now is it? 17 days and counting.
Sherr: I still have problems with the taste of food some days but just hang in there and be sure and get your protein and fluid intake in. are you using protein shakes? Stay hydrated for sure.
Did you talk to the doctor when you saw them about all the nausea? If not you need to call and tell them and see if there is something you can do?
Welcome to the losers bench Tressia and Kelli, we are so glad that you all made it thru surgery well and are now on the other side. Will be waiting to hear directly from you when you get home and feeling up to it.
Tressia tell John thank you so very much for the wonderful emails about you. They were great.
LOVE AND JOY AND PEACE ABOUNDS

Good Morning, Momma Jan...
Your Greenhouse sounds so wonderful, you'll have to take pictures for your friends here...
My computer tells me it's 38 outside, and that's without figuring in wind chill...I have been up since 5:00 a.m. the tops of my thighs are killing me, just weird that the muscles hurt...
When I was a body builder, my mom always said my thighs looked like "MAN THIGHS" maybe I did them in a loooonnngggg time ago, and it just NOW is catching up with me....
I didn't throw up yesterday, but it wasn't because I didn't feel like it...lol....4 day migraine is finally gone...whew.....
I have only had migraine's that bad once or twice a year...hope I am done w/ those kind for the year...lol....
I am going to try to make something today, something baked, if it turns out tasty, I will post it on a TRIED RECIPE thread....
OH, Momma J...will you post your butternut squash recipe, I have about 8 squash of various kinds that I need to do something with and fast....
I have 2 acorn, 2 butternut, a spaghetti one, and 2 zuckes
Today, I get to add lettuce, cold cereal, cooked veggies, tofu...I think that's it.....
Sherr
Good Morning Everyone:
Okay I agree it is cold outside this morning. Getting ready to take shot and meds. Get dressed in warm clothes DH & I are going over to F-I-L's house to mow and rake off yard for the winter. Then DH will take his Dad to his Dr. Appt. F-I-L has a really rough sounding cough that nearly chokes him when he get to coughing. I am taking him over some split pea soup. Then I have to go to the grocery store and to pay some bills. I am going to make a big ol pot of homemade chile for Saturday. DH is going to go out hunting and I am going to cook. I never thought I could bake or cook without sampleing every now and then bite. But I do now I dont want nibble bite because by the time whatever I am cooking is done I would be full. lol
I found some nice recepies yesterday that sounds really yummy. I will try them this weekend and then post them and what I thought. I hope you all have a wonderful day and be blessed!!!!
God Bless
Melissa
Jan: They are talking about the surgery being approx 3 to 5 hours long. And my stay in the hospital anywhere from 6 to 12 days. But Lod willing I will be back in the comfort of my own home by Thanksgiving. I am cooking a big turkey dinner next week before my surgery for DH dad and brother (yuck) Then whatever is left over I am going to freeze so we can have it when I get out of the hospital. And I wont have to worry about cooking.
Your greenhouse sounds so beatiful!!! Cant wait to see the photos of it and your new photo!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi friends! Hope this Friday morning finds everyone well and happy. I am a legal secretary and have been chained to my desk this week, and haven't had a lot of time to post, but have been trying to read and "lurk" during my lunch.
Jan, I am so happy for you and greenhouse. What a really cool thing to have. Definitely a perk to living in the country! And it is quite chilly here in KC too. I have three fur kids I took out at 6:30 this morning and frost was everywhere. They did their business and promptly came right back to the deck and (after their treat!) went straight back to bed with hubby (he works nights so he's still in bed when I get up). I actually broke out the sweats to go to the gym the other night. Not sure if I'm ready for this cold weather yet - guess I don't have much of a choice!
Melissa, sorry your FIL is having problems. I will keep your family in my prayers. Chili sounds really good - might have to make up a batch myself. I think I have everything at home, including some veggie meat to add to it. I made a batch of Creamy Black Bean Soup Wed. night - my all time new favorite since surgery. Wonderfully warm and filling!
I fell down four of our concrete basement stairs last night taking a load of laundry down, and wrenched my right knee, so will limp to the gym tonight and will have to take it easy on the leg weight machines. I will have to make sure and baby it until I can get it better. Everyone will find out that I am crazy in love with my dogs - or some will just say plain crazy! I took pics of them in their Halloween costumes and will try to figure out how to post them this weekend.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. God speed to all. - Kim
Dear Jan and all the Missouri People,
Beautiful cold morning today. Guess we're to get some clouds this afternoon. I went to the PCP yesterday again for sore joints and he doubled my Prednisone and added Amoxicillin. He thinks I have an infection that is causing my joints to be inflamed. No elevated white cells but elevated Sed rate so I see the Rheumatologist next week. PCP seems to think I'll see quick relief with this level of Prednisone so I sure hope he's right.
It's so exciting to see all these folks having surgery and getting their dates. I am so happy for everyone. Know my time will come eventually and I'm in a good place about waiting. I can't go to the St. John's support group this month since we'll be travelling but I'll make the Circle of Friends one on the 27th.
You are all continually in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs and loves,
Lana
TGIF !!!!!!
I hoping for a grand weekend! Ready for it too!! It's not been a bad week but I'm sure glad Friday is here. I took yesterday evening to go have dinner and visit with a couple of friends and that was a nice treat. Seems with work, kids, family obligations, church stuff, etc.....there's just not enough ME time. I'm one of those women who NEVER gets her nails done, never gets a haircut anywhere other than GreatClips, and the ONLY thing I regularly do for ME is shop! I LOVE TO SHOP! But time with friends mid week is such a treat! I'm vowing to try this more often!! Then tonight or Sat evening Jim and I are going on a DATE! : ) We'd been doing that regularly for a while but have been slacking lately...so we're overdue!!! We've been having time once a week with other couples from church though, one eve. during the week, and that's been a good couple activity. In 2 wks we begin another session of that group which sounds like it'll be quite a bit of fun if we use the book we looked at last week. It had us all laughing really hard, not quite the subject matter you'd discuss in church yet it's scripture based and for couples (get the idea?)
if any of you living in the area are interested in such a group, you don't have to belong to our church, email me for info. It's great to get better communication going in the marraige/relationship (don't have to be married, just need a partner) We're hoping to add a few more couples when we begin the new book in 2 wks. (mtgs are Tues nights)
Well, it's a slow day in my office today, Love that on a Friday!! Better find something to keep me busy now!
Have a great weekend everyone!!!!
Tami

Hi Jan and All
Thanx Jan for your prayers and the prayers of those praying for my husband, again we have been blessed by God to be here still on earth. Not doing much today I need to get back to my book but I will work on it over the weekend a little. Looks like the greenhouse is coming along great, whenever you talk about it I can hear your love for working in the earth and making things beautiful. Just wanted to wish everyone a blessed day. Looks like the Loser's bench is getting longer and longer to hold all of us
what a great feeling, I LOVE IT.
GOD BLESS !
Barbara T.

Hey hey ya'll
Been kind of a busy day here and so nice out even tho it was freezing cold this morning
Today it was my turn to take orders for Angel Food Ministries which is always a big blessing to me. I did place an order so my wife would have some good groceries after my surgery. Nov's comes with a turkey dinner so thats what we'll prolly cook on thanksgiving since I wont be eating solid food so soon after surgery. But overall it was a really good day. I got a card in the mail today from Bothwell Hospital moving my Pre Op appointment from 11am on Monday to 9am on Tuesday. Glad I got the card cuz I had forgotten to give them my new phone number, yikes! lol I called Dena to confirm it all and she said yes that they had changed it and that she'll just meet me at the hospital cuz she'll be there anyway. So I guess we'll be leaving about 4am Tuesday morning, ai yi yi lol.
Well I guess Im gonna head out for now, glad to see everyone seems to be doing good. Sherr thanks for the recipes, I cant wait to get to where I can try em, esp the carrot cake, that sounds so yummy.
Jan I'm with Sherr, could you please post the recipe for butternut squash soup, I'd so love to try that.
Have a blessed night!
Andrew
