I am a student at the University of Missouri. I am a journalism major and for one of my classes I have to write a profile story on someone. I will do this by "shadowing" them for about a week and doing several interviews with them. None of my information will be published because I am in an introductory class and am just learning how to write news stories. I am very interested in doing mine on someone who has had or is going to have weight loss surgery. I think it is an extremely interesting topic and many people would benefit from hearing about it. If you live in Columbia, MO and are interested in participating please let me know. Thank you!
Breann, I wish I were closer to you, I would be your participant. I am in Central MO (Franklin County) so I am about 1-1/2 to 2 hours from you.
I hope you understand that those of us that have had the procedures seem to be getting a bad wrap about doing this. Just this week Oprah had a not very flattering review on her show. Please understand when you are writing that those of us that have taken this route view this as our final hope to loose weight to save our lives. It isn't a quick fix, or as some say, the "easy" way out. Quite to the contrary, we still have to manage our food intake, probably more than any other diet. Exercise is quite important to us to prevent tons of sagging skin. I guess what I am trying to say is, have an open mind about this. We are all pretty hard nosed about being in agreement that the procedure has saved our lives by helping our co-morbidities and we would like to see someone that will portray our side of story.
If you can't find someone, or need another resource by phone or email, let me know. I will help you out.
