Stacey, congrats!! Don't be surprised if you come home from work and fall asleep right away. Happened to me when I went back at 13 days postop. So happy that you are feel so good too. That will make going back much easier. Welcome to the loosing side. ~Diana

Hi Stacy! As a fellow "out of the country loser" let me say....welcome home. The hardest part is over. I had my surgery in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and had a great experience. I am a critical care nurse and took two nurse friends with me. I found the nursing care very different from the US but had GREAT customer service (hard to find in the US). Like you, my insurance company was not an option. My employer has self provided insurance and an exclusion to weight loss surgery of any kind, for any reason. I am following up with my family doctor who also has five other gastric bypass patients. I am doing well. I have lost 89 pounds in seven months and other than having my gallbladder out two weeks ago (stone formation is common due to rapid weight loss), i have had NO complications. My life has changed so much and I have new "wow moments" on a weekly basis. I have also started on monthly B12 injections as my B12 levels have been rapidly dropping since surgery and I have battled some fatigue. I have gone from a size 20-22 to a size 12-14. I've found that protein is my biggest defense against all things bad. I feel better, lose more weight and retain more lean tissue when I get a lot of protein in (I shoot for 80 gms a day but admittedly have trouble from time to time). If there's anything you need or anything I can do for you, let me know. Congratulations on loving yourself enough to muster the courage to pull this off! Victoria
