UHC Policy Exclusion

I am contemplating RNY surgery; however, my insurance policy provides this exclusion, "Surgical and non-surgical treatment of obesity, including morbid obesity." Has anyone faced this exclusion and were approved? If so, I would like to know your secret.

I have the same exclusion and basically have found that there is no way around it.There was a bill in the Missouri senate that would have mandated insurance companies provide treatment coverage for morbid obesity however it did not go anywhere. Senator Rita Days plans on bringing this bill up before the senate again next year. We need to show great support for this bill if we are going to get it passed. Write your senator !!! Write Senator Days ! Email them, call them. Other states already have laws similiar to this one we just need to make ourselves heard. Dannielle
