Thanks to all that helped me thru the weekend's fiasco. As we thought, I do have a stricture and will be having endoscopy with dilation on Friday. If anyone has had it, can you please advise your procedure and how you have done? Many thanks!! ~Diana

Diana, Thank you for posting!! I'm glad you called your surgeon. I've never had a stricture but, you'll be in good hands with Dr. Richardson!! Be sure and post to let us know how everything went. Hugs, Kelli

Debbie, (I've never had one so maybe someone with true EXPERIENCE will post!) A stricture is (I'm not a doctor/nurse) when the stoma or opening where food goes through is too small for food to pass. I was told mine is a dime size....I notice that you are having or maybe had lap band. This will not be an issue for you because your stomach will stay in tact and your intestines will not be re-routed. So, please don't worry about this...some post-ops (RNY) do have this problem but, it usually is taken care of rather quickly through surgical dialation. Take care, Kelli

Thank you Kelli...I wasn't sure and the only way to find out is ask....lol I was thinking of all kinds of things... stricture kinda sounds like a mix between stitches and sutures...I was wayyy off....Thanks for the help and yes I hoping for Lap Band, just waiting on a surgery date! Deb

I did not have a stricture but I think it is basically they stretch the opening of your pouch as it is too small. It is not a big deal. I had a similar procedure done on my throat as it was too narrow. It works. The procedurre is like an edoscopy. They give you meds that give you temporary amnesia. You dont remember much just need someone with you to drive as you wont be able to drive. It should solve your problems. It is good you found out early and they can fix it easy.

Diana, I just wanted to offer an encouraging word! I've always been told that the surgery was the easy part and now we have to use the tool we've been given. Just be sure to ask your doc for some Versedt (sp), it's an amnesiac and it's great! Even if there was pain during or right after the surgery, you won't remember it! I've had it on several occasions and speak from experience, coz I can't remember a thing and I was actually awake for several procedures where it was used. Keep the faith God Bless, Phyllis
