The Cracker Pot

The Cracked Pot An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side & causes water to leak out all the way back to your house." The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?" "That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them." "For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to Grace the house." Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks And flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them. So, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to Smell the flowers on your sidee of the path! Love you ALL!!! Melissa

Thank you Melissa...it's not the first time I've seen that poem but it is one of my favorites! What caught my eye was the "cracker pot" title....lol With you telling jokes on here like you do, I thought you had a new spin on that poem...lol It is true tho, we are all cracked in one way or another but God loves us anyway! My pastor is always talking about how we are all, God's works of art and it reminds me of the time in church that he was talking about that in his sermon. I sit in one of the first pews in the church where I can see and hear everything and that morning he was talking about how we are all works of art in God's eyes and I said (what I thought was under my breath) "yea, but did He have to make ME abstract?" My pastor heard me and started to laugh...I was sooo worried that I was gonna be in trouble but he just used that in his sermon as well!....Thank you Lord! Abstract or Cracked....God Loves me! Have a great and Blessed weekend Melissa! Thanks for the smile! Deb M.

Melissa, I want you to know how much I enjoy reading your posts. Whether they are jokes, that I do share with others to make them laugh as well or like today-where I just got big tears in my eyes....to let everyone know that they are okay just the way they are sometimes is just what they need to hear. When I decided to embark on this journey, I sure was NOT prepared for the reactions of people I THOUGHT were my best friends. I wish I would have had this to look at back then. I really can say that besides my immediate family, I have never felt so much love, support and encouragement from people I have never met before, but share a very common bond. I love each and every one of you. Have a good day and Melissa, thanks for doing what you do-you are a good inspiration and source of encouragement and I appreciate you so much. Jan

That is a good story. It shows God has a plan and can use us even if we are not perfect. He even has a use for a poor worn out old man like me. There is a reason why I am still here. Someone said in Sunday School last week which was very comforting that God takes people to heaven at different stages of life to make heaven more interesting, like babies and young people. Heaven would be boring if it was just worn out old people.

David...if Heaven is filled with people like you I don't think I would be bored at all! I find that older folks have ALOT to share, if we just take the time to listen! Over the years I have met many people that have fascinated me! Most older, that have lived lives like we will never know! That have seen things that we will never see! Just to think of all the things that they have lived through that they can share with us! I loved to sit and listen to my Mom talk of her upbringing or my hubby's father, who lived with us until God took him home. They told many stories and I hope my children and grandchildren will want to sit and listen to the stories that we have to share now.....and trust me when I say, I will be sharing some of the older folk's stories that I have heard over the years, as well! Besides.....How could it be boring with God there? Love & Prayers, Deb
