Wednesday Whats Happening
Wednesday of another week? Seems like they fly sometimes. I am wondering where all the post ops have gone to. Seems like they don't post as often as they once did. Like Brenda, Melissa, Linda, Is Colette still on vacation?
Wayne was good to see you the other night wish you would post more too. You know you can help a lot of new people that are just coming onto the board, that haven't had surgery yet.
Besides I really do miss you a lot.
Yesterday was chilly all day wasn't it. I think the highest it got all day down here was 63. Now that is chilly but it sure felt good too.
Wont be long now before I have to pull up the rest of my flowers of summer. Like the zinnias and marigolds. The castor beans and balsam. And then the digging of all the elephant ears, cannas and dahlias has to be done . I have one patch of elephant ears and cannas on the south side of the house that I am going to mulch and leave in the ground this year .I have had several people in this area say they never dig theirs up so I am going to see.
Today is my weight and measure day. I have now lost 32 pounds. And more inches. This just seems too easy to me. I don't know about the rest of you but I keep expecting it to stop and start going back the other way soon. I cant get my mind wrapped around the fact that it will continue going down. Is anyone else having that problem? When for years you have dieted and dieted and lose 25 or 30 pounds to just have it all of sudden stop and start to go back up. It isn't easy to make yourself think that it will continue down this time. And to get your mind set to understand that you have to eat a certain amount for it to really to work good is another odd concept too. I am still at 4 weeks out having trouble getting in the protein I need daily plus all the water I need too. But I am still working on it.
I know if I can get in more protein I will probably lose more than I have.
Barbara: I see your hospital visit was fine. How much have you actually lost according to Dr. H.s scales. Im just wondering how off they will be to mine.
Good husbands are a wonderful to have aren't they Barbara. I have felt so blessed with mine over the years.
Lana: was great to see you at the meeting. And thanks for the great compliments. Yes I do get cold easier now. Especially when I am sitting down and air conditioning is blowing. Use to that would have felt so good. Now it is just cold. I think it is mainly because your body is burning up calories faster.
Was nice to meet your friend Alan. He seems like a really nice guy. And his determination to lose weight is amazing, the amount he has already lost is nothing short of astounding.
Pat: good to see you found us on the Mo. Board.
And to answer your question. No you don't feel hungry , in fact you have to keep an eye on the clock to make yourself eat at least every 5 hours.
At the stage Im in right now. My eating really consists of more protein shakes every 5 hours and sometimes I am able to eat a little something in-between there like a few spoonfuls of soup or something but most of the time I cant. With the getting in all the water we are suppose to drink it is hard to get in those things that we have to get in to ever be hungry. don't worry you wont be hungry . Starvation doesn't help to really lose weight. And that isn't what we are doing. We are to get in at least 90 grams of protein a day which isn't starving and if you don't get that much in then you don't lose the maximum amount of weight that you can. And your body goes into starvation mode and saves what it can. I hope I answered some of what you ask. And wasn't too confusing . It is late and sometimes I ramble. Lol
Marilyn: first is Huera your nickname or what?
Before surgery I tried to get in 2 protein shakes and then had one low fat meal a day to help shrink my liver some but now I have to drink 3 of the shakes a day to get enough protein because the amount of actual food that I can take in is so small that it doesn't amount to much.
I hope your fall didn't hurt too much. And yes I think everyone of us there can feel the same way you felt when you went down.
Last year I was in a restaurant and fell flat on my butt just walking to my table. You talk about embarrassing that was embarrassing. So yes I think everyone there could feel how you must feel.
Well I hope some of us get to see you again. Hope you plan on coming back next month. You will be surprised how many things you might learn or new things to take with you each time you come.
Sky: that is good that Dr. H thought you can wait awhile for your next surgery. Did you lose the amount that you thought you had? More or less? The walks each morning are going to be getting cooler and cooler now and will be more enjoyable . I love the fall of the year don't you?
So when you go back it will be for your 6 month checkup? Is that right?
Brenda: Where are you?
Melissa: You too. We miss you. I tried calling you twice yesterday and couldn't get you either time the phone just beeped instead of connecting.
Craig : glad you are feeling better and tell your sister we all said hi. Hope her blood sugars since surgery will get setteled soon. How is she doing other wise?
Linda: hope you are liking the Job.
Sherr: are you at home today now? Your surgery is soon. Wont be long now girl.
So glad to see all the new people posting now and wanted to say another welcome to the Mo. Board to them. We have some wonderful people here so if you have any questions im sure someone will be able to answer you.
LOVE AND JOY AND PEACE ABOUNDS
JAN
Like I said in my post last night - - the pre-op countdown starts today. My challenge - - - NO STARCH. No bread, pasta, rice, Potatoes, crackers or snacks of any kind. I am going to have yogurt and an apple for breakfast. For lunch - lettuce and deli roast beef and some watermelon. Dinner - - will have to figure that our later. This will be hard for me to follow right now - - but glad I don't have to do liquids for weeks before surgery like lots of people do - - so I won't complain at all !
Have a great day !
Good Morning everyone
Jan I was a few pounds more by Dr. H's scales but I weigh myself in the mornings before I get dressed even so I am thinking the clothes and water and stuff made that little bit of difference. And January will actually be 7 months out for me. But you have to remember I didn't have the full bypass I had the sleeve. So some things are a lot different for me. But I still go by the bypass food plan for the most part. Anyway I was so happy that Dr. H said I was doing great and could wait for any more surgeries that not much else mattered right then. LOL
And I would love to say welcome to the board to all the new comers. And I will add you all to my prayer list.
I love hearing how well everyone is doing. It just makes my heart sing with praise for the lord even more. God is go good and wonderful to all of us. He has truly blessed us all with this tool to help us get healthier in our lives.
Oh and Jan I have to tell you what I saw this morning. I saw a momma deer with three babies that were still covered in spots. The babies were still very small and so cute. I just couldn't help but think wow mommy must have had a really late birth because there are no other young ones around here with spots still that I know of and they were so small still. Where most of them are at least half the size of their mom's by now. Anyway I just had to share that with you all. Hope every one has a totally wonderful day today.
And May God Bless and Keep Each and Every One of You and Your Families Too.
Love ya all
Sky
Debbie
I didn't know anything about the sleeve myself, but Dr. H did it because I had some other health problems. You can see what it is at http://www.obesityhelp.com/content/wlsurgery.html#VSG
It is #2 on the list.
Hope that helps and answers your questions. If you have any more just let me know.
Take care and have a great day
love ya
Sky
Sky,
Maybe the fawns were so small because they were triplets but that shouldn't affect their spots. Hope they find a nice warm place for the winter. I am so anti-hunting that seeing baby deer hurts my heart knowing that someone will kill them next hunting season. I know all the rationale about overpopulating but I still can't believe anyone can consider it a sport to kill a living animal. I just don't get it. I get upset about all the possums and armadillos alongside the road. Just a monstrous softie for animals. Sounds as if your morning walks are full of God's creatures. I would love that, when we moved to S. Missouri I wanted to move into a timber where there would be deer and other wildlife but DH is a city boy and Nixa seems like totally the country to him!!! Hope you have a great Wednesday.

JAN...CONGRATS on the weight loss!! I get so tickled with you guys and your amazing weight loss and how surprised and happy you are that it's coming off so fast!
For those of you that have slowed down a little just hang on and stick to your regiments that your Dr's have gave you! Remember, it took God a week to make the earth! Ask yourselves...before surgery, how much weight were you losing? I know I talk big for a pre-surg but you should think back to before you had the surgery and all the posts you read from the new-surgs and how excited you would get at just the thought of losing 20 or 30 lbs alone! It will take time...enjoy! You have been given another chance at life.....ignore the bumps and set your eyes on the goal! The weight you all are losing is awesome from where I sit...trust me, your ALL doing great! PRAISE GOD!!
JAN....about your elephant ears....I planted some years ago and thought I would have to pull them up come fall but my hubby just piled a bunch of straw, packed it down over them and to my surprise they come up every year...bigger and more beautiful that the year before. I'm happy about that....less work!...lol I love gardening too but mine has gotten lost because of my health. I just have to sit back, watch God's foilage and remind myself that my day IS coming and I pray that I will be able to have a garden and bring my flower beds back to life when the day gets here. I LOVE assisting God with His gardening, ours is just a tiny speck compared to His but at least we're trying!
CRAIG...I am extremely happy that you are doing better, had me worried for awhile there! God is awesome! How much weight have you lost now?
ANDREW....how's the weight loss going? Are ya ready for surgery yet? I should be getting a call anytime now!...lol I'm sure your doing great...keep up the good work and we will ALL be on the losing bench soon enough!
MARILYN.... I too was wondering about the Huera! So glad that you have your day! Know that we WILL be holding you up in prayer today, tomorrow and everyday but especially on your day of surgery!
I was talking to my daughter yesterday about Thanksgiving Dinner. I told everyone that last year was my last year of cooking the meal. They are all disappointed but understand that it takes too much out of me to do all the cooking anymore! I told my daughter that I could assist but that was it....she said she would make everything else if I made the turkey....I'm like sure thing...that's the easy part!! and you don't have to keep taste testing the turkey....after surgery, taste testing would be our whole meal, yes?....lol
I'm so proud of all you post-surgs with staying on with your programs....eating right or at least trying to, drinking your water and exercising! I pray that I do as good as all of you!
SKY....I love deer, especially mommas and their babies. I saw a momma with spotted twins down the road the other day and your right...it is last in the season for babies. A couple of years ago, hubby and I were on that same road, our road, just down a ways! We came across a my momma and her baby, they crossed the road right in front of us. The baby was so little, it was still a little shaky in it's legs. We stopped and watched...Momma jumped the ditch and the baby was standing there crying! Hubby and I felt sorry for it and me being the animal lover that I am, I begged my hubby to get out and help the little guy. Momma was half way across the field, about an acre away, waiting! The baby was at the roadside shaking, afraid to jump. Hubby opened the door, placed one foot on the ground and that little deer took a jump that looked like something out of Bambi...all legs! It made it across the ditch, barely and laid down in the grass....that was good enough for us! We moved on down the road and watched as Momma came back for her baby. Hubby and I figure someone or something scared them up out of their hiding spot. Mommas usally don't move around too much until the little ones get a little more stable. There was another time we were driving around looking for critters...we love to watch God's gifts in their habitat. We came across a momma in labor....we went on. We wanted to stay but we were afraid she would try to run and she was in no condition! I LOVE living in the country! I was born and raised in southern CA. City life was not for me! I always had a calling for the country and God made it possible! Thank you Lord!
Well, I need to be getting up and letting the blood flow back into my legs...lol You all behave yourselves out there today...lol Enjoy the weather!! God's Love to All...Deb M

Good Morning Everyone:
What a beatiful morning were having here in MO. At least it is warmer this morning then it was yesterday at this time. I froze all day long yesterday. Is anyone else having that problems post-surgery?? Before I had WLS I has extremly warm blooded. It would be winter out with snow and I would still be running around in shorts. NOT THIS YEAR!!! I have wore long pant 3 times in the last week along. I sleep with at least 3 to 4 blanket on top of me. DH lol and says I look like a catapillar in my cocoon. It is kind of nice not to always be so blooming hot. But it will take some getting use to at being cold.
It is so nice to see all the new people on the board. Looks like we will be maken room for some more friends on the Losers bench soon. I am going to paint some more on my lighthouse. Couldnt yesterday it was misting and my paint would of never dried. So I am goingt o work on it today for awhile. I believe that DH is going to his Fathers house to mow and check on him. Were still walking everynight I am enjoying it. Looking forward to getting back into the pool in Oct when I start my membership at Olympic Fitness Center. My plan is to go to the pool every other day and walk every night. We will see how that goes. I know I am just a little over 4 months out. But when I weight today I am 93 lbs from my goal. Which is really exciting for me I cant remember when that last time I was in that weight area. If I pass my goal GREAT but if not and I just hit it GREAT too!!!
I hope you all have a great day.
Jan: I am sorry I didnt get to talk to you more yesterday. Usually if I am home I dont have my cellphone on. Looks like I will need to start turning it on tho hun?? lol
God Bless
Melissa
Good morning everyone....We are still waiting to hear back from mom's insurance company about her approval...she has really been down....I keep telling her that God will make sure it happens but in His time not hers.....On the brighter side of things my sister got her date....She will be on the losing side on Oct 13th......I am so glad for her....Well I am at work at the moment, just finished giving shots and now I getting ready to leave work and take my little girl for her 6 month check up in Springfield...Just her and I going and hopefully we will meet Kelli M....Hope everyone has a wonderfully blessed day....
God bless
Rachael
Good morning Jan and MO board!!
My appointment with Dr. Hornbostel went very well, he said I'm doing great and that I can have more food (not hungry), no red meats, etc. He told me that as I lose the wait my need for insulin will decrease so for me not to use it unless my BS is 200 which is
with me. I'm still confused about my weight lost because on the day of surgery I was down to 313, on the day of Pre-op I was 318, when I had my first consult with him I was 322, the first of this year I was 339, sooooooo! Okay on my first post op visit I was 316 and I believe that had a lot to do with the swelling , etc. after surgery and I was pretty good with this type of stuff in school (heavens to murgatroy)
I'm not sure if my brain is ready for all this figureing, but I weighed in at 290 yesterday and did a
in the doctor's hall way, do you know how lllooonnng it has been since I was under 300 lbs? All I can say is WWWHHHOOOOPPPPPEEE
Well I guess I'll just
myself in here and do some exercise or something
, I am going out and walk today since the children are in school, I want to find a senior citizens community where ther are no teenagers, for whatever reason some of these little darlings
are so disrespectful it is a shame. But I believe the Bible speaks of this generation, doesn't it?
Everyone have a blessed and wonderful day in the Lord!
