I need an angel.
Hi Kelli. I didn't have an angel (geographical issues-I live in the middle of NO WHERE!). The people on this board and the main RNY board have given so much help and support that not having one hasn't been such a big deal. I do miss not having a chance to get together for a support group meeting. See if there is one close to you and attend if you can.
In the meantime, see how much you can drop prior to the surgery. It will make the doc's job so much easier and in turn, better for you. Try to get moving, even if it is just for 5 minutes to start. It is important that you be in the best physical condition you can prior to surgery. Also, practice eating and drinking like you will have to do after surgery, sample some protein to find out what you like. Get out the smaller sized clothes and have them ready to go. It won't be any time at all and you will be needing them!
Also, I noticed that at about a week preop, I started to have all kinds of emotional issues, fears about the surgery & complications, and how my life would be changing. When this sets in for you, just understand, it is normal to go thru lots of challenging emotions. Post with questions and concerns and see how many people want to help you!!
~Good Luck!~
Diana
