hi everyone. i was wondering about missouri medicaid. do they pay for RNY? do they make you jump through hoops?

welcome to the board Patricia. I cant tell you any thing about medicaid ,now if it were medicare i could help you. There are several on here that have used medicaid tho i do believe. So hang in there someone can maybe tell you of their dealing. Again welcome to the board and come back again. Jan

Yes Missouri Medicade does pay for WLS and yes they do pay for the RNY, at one time they wouldnt pay for the LapBand but Im not sure if they pay for now or not. As far as hoops go Im not exactly sure just what hoops Medicade requires, for me they are my secondary insurance as Medicare is my primary. From what I have heard tho, Medicade is pretty good at getting it done. Like Jan said tho, hang in there cuz there are some that post on the board here that have Medicade as their primary insurance. Firstguard payed for my lapband in 2004. My husband also needs the surgery, but we have had no luck finding a surgeon to accept medicaid. If anyone knows of one, please let me know! Thanks. Janet in Kansas City.

Medicaid does pay for the rny. I had no problems going through them. I was approved after the first letter.

Patricia, Dr. Stephen Scott in Columbia at the UMC does accept Medicaid for RNY surgery....Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia accepts Medicare...If you call the UMC in Columbia Iam sure they will give you all the info.....God Bless...Craig Lee
