Looks like another week is about over. Boy yesterday there were lots of people driving here and there. Brenda and I met up in Dr. Hornbostels office ,well she got lost and was late lol. But afterwards we went to KFC and got one serving of potatoes and gravy and made them real runny and we both had our fill and still had over half of it left. Her daughter and Joe both had lunch .But I think they finished before we did. Lol Brenda was great to see you again. Our next appointment is on the same day again. Well I didn't lose as much as I thought I might have but wasn't bad . I lost 13 pounds. I think Brenda lost a lot more. But that is ok we aren't in a competition. Or don't think we are. Lol If I could have 13 pounds a week I sure would take that lol know that wont happen tho.wouldn't take long to lose all of this at all would it. When I got home I drank another protein shake for supper. It was a long and tiring ride home. I am glad I don't have to go back for a month. Oh yeah Dr. Hornbostel gave me a shot of B-12 while we were there. I hope it makes me feel less tired. But I really think now that I have the go ahead to eat some pureed soups and stuff I will get to feeling better too. He said on the 14 of Sept that I could advance to the next stage too. Sky : YOU LIKE the smell of skunks??? Do you have a problem with your smeller? Lol You were right about the taters. No way. Melissa: hope you get some good news at your Frs. appointment today. I would almost be willing to bet he schedules you for surgery very soon. We and all the board had a lot of safe travel prayers to say today. Hope you arrived home ok. Waiting to hear all about what he said Debbie: Oh yeah now I know what Crush and run is. I just never heard it called that before . If you work on your fence you better watch your head this time. Lol The meeting you have with Dr. H on the 30 will be really short. If you have questions you need to write them down . Because he flies. He will stay and answer all your questions but if you stop asking them he will be gone lol Do you think he wont accept you for some reason? I hope so anyway. If you get along as good as me you will be wanting to finish that fence pretty quick .lol Todd: Your idea with the cauliflower sounds great. That would be better than the potatoes. Not as much starch too. Glad you are posting on here now. Love seeing newbies although your technically not one. Tell us something about yourself. Married, kids, single, girlfriend, etc etc, Lucky : I hope you had good luck with your trip to Columbia too today. Did you and Melissa see each other. Of course we do need a picture of you on here. Hope you and your sister had fun. I always have such fun with mine. Wont be long till your surgery now. Lana: So we are all set for Panera Bread after the meeting on the 11th huh? Great. Hope a few come with us. Don't worry until you get a no and then you can fight it ok. Well since I was given the go ahead on everything I ask then today is the day that I get serious about losing weight. Saturday I am buying me a little pool so I can get in it and do water exercises . And if nothing else can do at least 30 minutes at a time walking in there. It should be a lot easier on my joints until some of this weight comes off. Dr. said no lifting over 10 pounds still for another week and after that anything I wanted to do. And still no sit ups lol like I could. This is my plans so but you know what they say about plans. Lol Everyone have a great day. LOVE AND JOY AND PEACE ABOUNDS JAN

No...I don't think that Dr. H will turn me down....at least, I hope not! I'm just not that excited about getting this surgery and I don't know why. Maybe because I have had 8 surgeries before? Who knows? I 'm mean, I'm not anxious, happy, sad, nervous...nothing! You'd think I'd be tickled pink, nervous, excited...something, with it getting closer! Maybe this is the way the Lord is gonna help me through it. This IS better than getting all depressed or anxious about it...yes? Yeah, I'm thinking about wearing a helmet when I go out to finish the fence. That headbanger hurt!...lol I still have a sore spot on my noggin! The fence post that I was trying to drive in is just like I left it. I think I drove it halfway through a huge tree root. I'm not sure I will be able to get it out!....lol It might just have to be a standing monument of my "not so bright" days ...lol Raining most of the night and still going here..anyone else? That's all for now.....you all have a great day! Deb M

Good Morning Everyone: I think half of the board was on the road yesterday. Wasnt bad going up but coming back I was hurting big time. Checked in early at Dr. Scott's and they sent me down stairs for some bloodwork. The lady that was in labs keeping pulling these vials for the blood. She took out 8 of those things. I asked her if I had that much to share. lol Went back upstairs to wait to see Doc. Had this young student doctor come into the room. And was asking me all these question. He is still learning so it wasnt that bad. You can tell he was kind of nervious. Bless his heart!!! Then Dr. Scott came in and said to me. We have never meet I am Dr. Scott and put his hand out for me to shake. He looked so serious that my heart stopped for a few seconds until he started to smile. Dr. Scott said he is so happy with how well I am doing. I had lost a little over 100lbs in 4 months. Was talking about the difference between now and 4 moths ago. I pulled out a photo that I have on my profile. That was taken a week before surgery. Dr. Scott told me to keep that photo out and he would be right back. A couple of minutes later Dr. Scott & Dr. De La Torra comes back into the room. And Dr. Scott shows him the photo. Come to find out they were both the ones that did my sugery since I had the sleeve done. They were so excited since the sleeve is relativley a new procedure. Told me to keep up with the photo's and what I am doing. Yes, I was glowing by the time I left!!! It is always so good to know that your Dr. is happy with what your doing. Plus every success story is good for him too. So anyways he is referring me over to one of his assistances Dr. Ramshaw. He also does the WLS but he specializes in Venterical Hernia Repairs. YEA!!!!! They should be calling me for my appointment with Dr. Ramshaw today letting me know when I have to go back up to Columbia. Then Dr. R will schedule the surgery. So yes it is getting taken care of I just dont have a date yet. Jan: 13lbs is nothing to sneeze at girl. I think that is wonderful. You need to remember when you see someone that has lost more then you on your first week. Maybe they were heavier then you to begin with. Plus everyones bodies are so different. You keep up head up sweetie I am so happy for you!!!!! Brenda: So how was those Mashed Potatoes??? I still remember when I first got my M.P. Mmmmmm they were so good!!! Todd: I bet your wife is so glad that you dont have a g-friend either hun?? lol Sherr: Where in the world are you??? Do I need to send out a search party?? Lucky: It was so nice meeting you yesterday. I will be looking for your sisters phone call letting me know how your surgery went. And I will make sure I post andlet everyone know. Your in our thoughts and prayers!!! Lana: You know that fear is from the devil. And if your on the wrong path from God. He wont bother you cause he has nothing to fear. But if your on the right path. And your headed in the right direction. The devil is going to throw everything he can at you to make you doubt what your doing. Dont give he that lead. Throw him down and stomp on him. Like that songs says He's under our feet. He's under our feet. Satan's under our feet!!!!! Andrew: How are you doing sweetie?? Thank you so much for your prayers. Rachael: How was your week??? Are you getting any relief yet?? Craig: I will be praying that you have a safe journey to Columbia and back. Sky: I dont blame you I dont like some of those critters either. lol Colette: Did you get your car fixed?? How is Mel doing??? Well I am going to run. NO not actually run. But getoff my rear end and stat moving. I hope you all have a great day. Looks like it has rained here some. Going to finish my pool and go pay acouple of bills. Have a blessed day Melissa

Hello Melissa, Jan, and everybody, Well as Jan said I did go for my one week follow up which was yesterday. Thanks Jan for sharing potatoes with me, they were soooooooo goooooooooooood!!!!!!!!! Now get ready for my weight loss announcement: *drum roll please* down 19 POUNDS!!!!!!!! Yea-yea My daughter drove me up and we had a great time just talking and laughing , I loved it. It's been along time since we have been able to spend time together alone. As Jan was saying, Dr. H. moves like the road runner. I was in my van and my daughter drove 12 HOURS!!! yesterday, and I don't think I spent a total of 30 minutes in his office and that includes the waiting room! Going home we hit rush hour in St. Louis area and got down to 10 miles an hour on I 270, we saw 3 wrecks and I would like to thank the Lord for our safe journey. But all the trips have been worth it, I'd go through it all again in a heart beat!! I have to give thanks to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for this surgery happening so fast for me. I had my first appointment with Dr. Hornbostal in May and my surgery was August. I did not have to go through any Dr. supervised diets, no dietician consult , no psych eval, no nothing. I did have to take a stress test ordered by the anesthetist, which turned out fine. And my ins. Approved the first try. So I know God was answering a lot of prayers, and I want to praise his name!!!! Thank you Lord!!!!!! Well I got to tell you I love moving up on the diet. Pureed food is a whole lot better than clear liquids!! I went for my first walk this evening, I ask Dr. H. if I should go 30 minutes to start and he said try it and if I couldn't make it that far to just keep going a little farther each time. I made it the full 30 minutes but I had to stop a couple times for a couple minutes. My babies, Mattie & Gracie, went with us and I thought we would have to carry them back but they made it too. But we were all glad to be back home. Well I'm going to go to bed. I hope the walking will help me sleep tonight. Brenda

MEL MEL & GANG: Well, I think all my craziness the last two weeks caught up with me. I drove back Tues. late afternoon... spent that night and all next morning cleaning. Went to see my PCP and he is so excited for me. I've gone to him since I was about 4 years old...(((he was my pediatrician))) He hooked me up with med samples, thank god...I pretty much blew through my whole months budget in the first 1/3 of the months, so the next 2/3rd I have to sit very still and not spend any money. I started feeling bad on the drive back from his office. I had another doc appt. yesterday, and by the time I made it, and they took my temp. it was 102.7.... Soooo, between Truck LAG and Fever, I have been out of commission.... What ever this "thing" is that I have makes me feel like I can't hold my head up. So I've been resting a lot, which I needed. The week and a half in columbia did a mental and physical number on me. LOVE YOU ALL.... S

Hey hey ya'll Sounds like everyone has been busy this week traveling from all over missouri. Glad to hear things are going so good for most of ya's. Melissa thats so awesome how the doc thinks your doing just wonderful, keep up the good work gurl. Your such an inspiration to us!!! Im doing pretty good, trying to lose some weight before november but dang its just not as easy as it sounds lol. For some reason the last few days my legs have been swelling at the bottom of em, I been taking an extra lasix to try to get the fluid off, for the last couple years i've had a fluid build up problem, hopefully having WLS and losing a bunch of weight will help that. I dont keep them up during the day as much as I should. I did have someone give me a perfectly good stair master, woohoo Im really kinda of heavy for it tho but it sure works nice. Jan thats awesome you lost 13lbs, whens the last time you lost 13lbs in lil over a week? lol I bet the taters and gravy were yummylicious lol. Deb the house will be a bit more quiet now but I sure bet your proud of your son. Sounds like he's going to a really good school. I sure hope ya dont listen to your daughter, maybe she's just afraid of you having surgery or something. I've had some people at church try their best to discourage me from losing, keep telling i'll change to much plus its just to dangerous. I'll always be me but i'll sure be a happier me, silly people lol. Hang in there gurl. Maybe after talking to Dr. H you'll be more motivated or happier about the surgery. Just think you'll end up living longer then you would if you didnt have surgery. It's all good gurl its all good. Looks like Sherr is MIA, Melissa guess you WILL have to get the search party out and find that silly gurl lol. Craig I bout pulled a you today LOL I have an old pair of pants that I wear around the house, they've sorta gotten loose on me from being old and from losing a few pounds. I was helpin my wife carry in some things from the car and all of a sudden my britches went down just as purdy as can be my wife was like and I was like OMG About that time the Land Lady come walking by going to the office and she was like I think she was more embarrassed then I was, here's a 480lb man standing on the sidewalk with his pants down to his ankles she goes " do ya need some help" I started to say Nooooooooooo i just thought i'd show everyone my red boxers AI YI YI!!!!! She took the bags from me and I pulled my pants up and went on inside....good lawd there's no telling how many cars drove by and had a good laugh I wanted to run and hide My wife went and bought me a pair or suspenders LOL Thats the only pair of pants I have that are kinda baggy LOL See if I wear those anymore LOLOL Well anyway, just thought someone might need a good laff tonight LOL I guess the Lord has his way of cheering people up lol I was down today...til that happened LOL Hope everyone is doing good, have a great weekend!!!!! Well, ya got me smiling Andrew but heck...you always do. My hubby is a character too...always messin with me. Oh no, never let my daughter or anyone else talk me out of surgery! I have been chasing after it for too long now to give up! You guys and your pants...LOL My hubby was helping me feed and water the puppys one day. He had his "house shorts" on. He walked into that pen with those food bowls and the puppies were all over him! Jumping up, excited, trying to get those bowls and grabbing his shorts and with his hands full he had nothing to grab with! I have never seen him move so fast....he all but dropped those bowls of food. He grabbed his shorts, yanked them back up and said "guess I learned a lesson there"....lol The puppies know to stay down when I'm in there but they aren't that familar with David....they almost know him too well now...LOL Very proud Andrew!...my baby, Jason has made us all very proud! The Good Lord told me years ago that Jason would be called into the ministry. The day he came home from camp and told me the Lord had called him to minister, I just smiled! I knew and he knew I knew! We were both smiling! God is soooo AWESOME!! He (Jason) was in Master's Comission last year. He has a pretty hectic schedule for the next four years. Like they say tho....if He brought you to it, He will bring you thtough it...yes? Love & Prayers to All...Deb

Hello, all my dear friends, Friday at last. It has been a rough week for me health wise. Even with the good report from the PCP I suddenly had a sore to the touch spot on my thigh that flared up red and warm. My first thought was blood clot but DH has had them before and he told me I would hurt deeper in my leg and also should have a knot. Nothing like that. Last night I went to bed after supper with an ice pack and it really helped. I still don't know what it is/was but it's better tonight so I'm on the mend. We finally had some wonderful rain. It rained while I was at work or I swear I'd have been out getting wet. Melissa, I know what you mean about Satan. He does put negative thoughts in our heads especially when we are doing something the Lord wants us to do. I will stomp, stomp, stomp!!!! Hope everone sleeps tight tonight as it has cooled off so nicely. Much love and many hugs to all of you. Lana
