Dietician
Hi, Everybody:
My appointment with a dietician is tomorrow. Was wondering if any of you can tell me exactly what they will do? Is it to make sure we know how to eat properly or is it to explain the various types of foods and what they do to our body? My insurance company requires this. Any guidance you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Next week is my final consult with a psychologist. I took a MCMI II test last week. She called me today and asked me to come in next week and discuss the findings with her. She told me that everything showed there was no psychological reasons why I shouldn't have the surgery. She just wants me to explain to her why I feel this is the right decision for me. I have no problem with explaining that. I realize WLS is not something you don't just jump into and hope for the best. It is a life changing event. You have to be realistic and carefully weigh the pros and cons as well as the risks involved. It is not a decision to be made lightly. It is not an all and all cure, it is a tool and you have to be willing to utilize that tool to the utmost for your own benefit. Whether not the WLS works to help you attain your goal is completely up to you.
Thank you for your time and I hope all of you have a great evening!

ALL of the dicussions I've had with my dietician (before AND after surgery) have been the same...going over the bariatric nutrition guidelines, portion sizes, appropriate vitamin supplements, the use of protein shakes. Basically, it's all the same stuff that you probably already know from visiting OH. Plus, if you've been a dieter in the past (as I'm sure you have been...haven't we all?), you have a wealth of knowledge that even the dietician may not have (as was the case with my RD). Don't sweat it!
