Saturday Whats Happening.
Well what do I write about yesterday. Not a lot exciting that I did. Lol. Only so much can be said for sipping, walking , sipping, walking. I had to go out on the back porch this afternoon. I had gotten so cold that the afternoon sun was the only thing that seemed to warm me up. So glad we bought the zero gravity lawn chairs. Really gets the legs elevated in the air. Im still not getting all of the fluid in that I am suppose to get in but hopefully I will soon. To do it and leave room to sleep 8 hours you have to drink 1 oz every 15 minutes. Either water, broth, jello or Popsicle. doesn't sound like much and it isn't unless you have just had surgery. Lol
After all that is only 4 oz in an hour. Good grief how hard can that be right? Well let me tell you it is hard. First off by the time the first hour has gone by my new little jr. is puffed up and hurting bad so you let the first 15 minutes of the next hour go by to let it seep on down. Then you are already behind for the next hour and so on and so forth. By the time 4 hours have gone by you are a whole hour behind . Now what are you going to do. You cant go faster . If you do then you might rupture Jr. So you see it isn't easy. Not at all.
Told you none of this was exciting this morning lol.
Talked to Brenda yesterday and she sounded great. We were on the phone for a good 30 minutes. And we were still gabbing away. She is very easy to talk to.
I See where Craig's sister Leta has her surgery date now. That is awesome Leta.
Also welcome back to the boards Sherri B.I remember you when I first came on the boards but you didn't stay long. 6kids? Wow! Quite a job there you have.
Sky: Good morning to you too. And you aint no slouch in the nice person department yourself. You are one of those nice ,wonderful people on here that does make a difference. Keep up the walking you are doing yourself so much good.
Pixielf: I agree about the hoopla that went on about the step up meeting. I don't know what was their problem with spouses attending and why someone isn't allowed to say something about it.? doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Oh well I go mainly to see all of my friends anyway lol. The forum and what they have to say isn't that important to me since I haven't seem much that was new or different lol. Are you going to be at the meeting in Sept? You and your hubby are invited to come out with us afterwards for coffee so we can all get to know each other a little better .
Todd: Hey glad to have you posting . Is this this your first time to post? Anyway welcome and please come back often. Yes Bothwell hospital is great. I said that I have been in lots bigger hospitals and more beautiful hospitals but none where I was ever treated any better. The staff were very professional, and very caring. And I cant say enough good things about Dr. Hornbostel. Don't get to see him a lot but he is really really good at his job and his smile is so real that you know that he really does care even if he doesn't have time to spend a long time with you. He will answer any questions you might have but you better have them wrote down and be ready for him .lol. Any way Todd welcome and come back really soon. Like tomorrow. Lol
David: So glad you are feeling well enough to go back to work. You take it easy tho. You remember the last time you was working and you got to feeling so well and was working overtime and all and it about done you in. So please take it easy. We would like to see you stay around for awhile ok?
Linda: So glad you had really good news at the Dr. visit. You sound so excited and happy about getting to eat some mashed potatoes. Lol I know I will be too. Even tho I cant get all this liquid down I am already tired of it. Lol. Im glad to hear that the protein drink tasted so good to you because you need to probably drink about 2 or 3 of those a day to get enough protein in your system. The dietician said we need about 80 grams a day didn't she? And right now you aren't going to get a lot from food eaten. But you can get it from the protein drinks. Just don't waste your space eating empty stuff.
I wi**** wasn't so far from town for me .We have a curves there but as high as gas is I cant see driving that far daily.
Keep up the good work. You will be the hot one soon. Lol
Barbara: So very sorry to hear about your good friend passing away. I know you will miss her. There are some people that come into our lives that make such an impact that we never forget them and there is no need to. She will always be with you in your thoughts. And is only a prayer away. You can always keep her memory alive and fresh with you. Take care of your self and know that I am praying for you.
Lana: I know you are busy at work but please don't stay away too long at a time ok. We would miss seeing that lovely smiling face when we opened the what happening post. Yes I agree that we have some awesome prayer warriors on here. I know that is why we have been having such wonderful results with all of our surgeries. And acceptance ,I feel like every one is so connected that it is like we are all brothers and sisters and we are in Christ.
Tracey: Wonderful to see you on the board. Congratulations on getting yet more books out. I stand in amazement of writers. I have always wished I could do that. And to keep coming up with the ideas and thoughts and twists and turns to make up more than one story is just short of a miracle to me. It has to be a gift from God. I know some people don't chose to use it for his glory but I still believe it is a gift. That is their choice I guess since he gives us free will . How are your kids doing?. Love reading your blog .
Melissa: Where are you sweet girl? Missed hearing from you today. I hope you are ok and that hernia isn't getting the best of you.
Take care not too long before you see your doctor again now. isn't it the 24.
That is when I have to go to Sedalia for my first check up with dr. H. They had me sit up for Tuesday the 22nd but Joe has his last epidural in the lower part of his back on that date. So we had to go to Thursday. After his completion of the lower back they are going to start on his neck area. All of these problems came from his wreck in 99 and they have just gotten worse as the years go by but I told him it is worth it as surgery is a really bad process for spines.
Well guys hope the day goes wonderfully for you . Just this one more hot one and then we are suppose to be getting some cooler weather. I am so cold already that I don't know if I can handle too much cool weather this year. But I can always put on a sweater lol. See you all tomorrow.
LOVE AND JOY AND PEACE ABOUNDS
JAN
Happy Saturday! It is great to hear the experiences of the new baby post-ops for those of in still in line -- it makes me even more excited to get to my Big Day
As most of you know, MO Bariatrics has you do a 2 week pre-op high protein liquid diet. I'm five days into it, and it hasn't been quite as a bad as I thought -- I thought I would be starving and obsessing about real food -- I even made chicken enchiladas for my son and his buddy the other night, and I wasn't even tempted -- if anybody ever doubted the existence of a higher power, that to me was definitive proof -- it had to be God in control at that point because it certainly wasn't my normal m.o.!!!!
Well, time to get the day rolling -- I'm off to a fundraising coffee for female candidate for Senate (see how I could be entirely non-partisan on the Board!), and then off to do errands. Have a good day everyone!

happy weekend, y'all,
I'm going to be doing a marathon of writing to finish up my last deadline of the summer. PTL. RESTING the next two weeks.
Writing is a blast, but it can be hard work! I guess that's why you have to do what you love no matter what it is you work at.
I think I have a gall bladder issue going on. I started having pain in my side and upper back last week. Have had a few attacks, but not eating much fat, so it's better. have lost five lbs this week as a result of not eating much. I guess that's good. Haven't lost that much at a time since the beginnig of the process. I see Dr. Hodges for my six month check up on Monday.
Jan, thanks for reading my blog. Kids are okay. We plan to get another siberian husky in a few months when they're ready to love another one. We miss our Nick, though.
Hugs to all
Tracey

Good Morning Everyone:
I was hoping when I got up that my yard would be wet from all the rain. But no such luck. So water my yard and plants is the first thing on my agenda today. Besides going to the libarary, and getting a few grocerys, then pool & exercise time. Nothing big planned staying close to the house this weekend. Maybe get together with the neighbors.
Jan: I get cold at times too. That is why I love being in the sun cause it feel like it warms you to the bones. Something a heavey blanket just wont do. lol Dont sweat the drinking thing. It took me almost 3 weeks to get in my 64oz of fluids. I just couldnt do it I would sip sip sip and if I sipped any more it was going to come right back up. I know how you feel just do the best that you can. I dont believe that Dr.H will be really expecting you to take in 60 something oz in a day. In the begining but to work your way up to that point.
Sherr: How did your night go?? Did you get my email?? I will be talking ot you this weekend!!!
Colette: Your an
!!!!!!!
Lana: Has your daughter moved down here yet???
Craig: How are you feeling today?? Remember when you stand or start to walk put on hand on the waist band of your shorts, pants, underware, boxers, ect and grasp firmly.
Andrew: I think Craig was trying to pull a Sponge Bob by his pant dropping to the floor. Doesnt SB's open up in the hiney??
Linda: How are you sweetie. It is so good to see you posting again.
Barbara: And how are you doing?? How is that new pouch treating you??
Tressia: So glad you like the post!!!
Okay I need to get moving. I hope and pray you all have a blessed day!!!
Love ya
Melissa

Hi all, I'm doing great. I can't believe how the weight just seems to melt away during the night. I know it won't happen forever, but I sure am enjoying it right now! I was getting ready to go see my Mom in the nursing home last evening and needed to change clothes. I stood in front of my closet and looked for something nicer to wear than blue jeans. I found this pair of slacks that I hadn't been able to get on and move around in for the last year or so. I thought I'd just try them to see how much more weight I had to lose before I could wear them. WOW! I sat down on the bed and put my legs into them and they just pulled right up. No wiggle dance to get them up. I stood there with my mouth open. I couldn't believe it. I could sit, stand, walk, and move around comfortably!
So, being a brave person and pushing my luck, I went for a tee-shirt that I couldn't get to come down over my hips for ages and low and behold, again, it just slipped down with no problems. So, I got to wear a whole "new" outfit to see my mom. Then when I got to the nursing home, my Dad looked at me and said "how much weight have you lost?" You look like you've lost some weight. I told him how much and he said "see, I told you that surgery would work for you." What a great guy. My family support it fantastic. But the support from this board is also great. All the support sure makes it a lot easier to get through the good and bad times. Thanks so much for all you guys do. Gotta go for now...God's blessings to you all.
Love, Linda

Good Morning Captain Lady. (LOL)
Glad to see you up and about. First on my agenda is to tell you that you should not stress over not getting all your liquids in yet. That is almost impossible to do just post op. Just dont stress yourself out with that every 15 minute bit or you will not enjoy your journey. Fill up your hourly amount, and do your best. At the end of an hour, measure the next hours worth. You will be getting enough in at first. That is how I did it and I never once had trouble or got dehydrated.
Read last nites post. Went to see Brenda. She is doing great and will be home tonight sometime. She will probably be very tired as they have 5-6 hour drive. Keep her in your prayers.
Being cold at first is part of the pre-op Jan. I nearly thought I was freezing at times. LOL. I was always warm warm warm. I have since then resumed my warm status.
Now I am going to ask the people to start praying for my daughter, Judy Wagner, who will also have surgery on Aug. 29. She lives in Ohio and will have it done in Michigan. She is thrilled to be approved and waiting like each of us did. Not sure if I can go for surgery, as it is a very long trip and our house is getting new siding on the 28th. Judy would rather I come later to visit her. We will see. I would like to go anyway and would like to see the Bariatric Center she is going to. It is just a place for Bariatric and not a regular hospital.
Well everyone have a nice day. The Lord blessed us with rain last nite so all the flowers and garden are perky this am. Have a good day. Remember to praise, thank and worship the Lord tomorrow. ( also today. LOL) Colette
MOMMA JAN!!!
HI!!! I am still up here in Columbia....this week was a hell week for me..But I must say I AM A WIMP...
The worst thing was (((believe it or not)))) the sleep test...having to stay IN bed, a tiny bed, lay flat, and still...GOD my joint pain just about KILLED me...and my spine degeneration got the best of me around 3:00 a.m. I asked the tech to "un-hook me, because I was going home"...
She said, if you do, you'll have to pay for your surgery because your insurance will refuse, and you'll just have to come back and do it again IF you want the WLS anyways....
I wont even tell you guys about my Chemical Stress Test...
then to end it with a BLOOD GAS...which I had NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS....
I know it now....
MEL MEL....if MO BAR does a 2 week protein drink ONLY, then I guess my date is WAYYY off
Thank you for being my rock lately MEL....I know I can be a handful...
Love you guys

Your not too much of a handful. lol Yes, sometimes they do. I was on a liquid diet for 8 weeks tho. So I am figureing it maybe different for everyone. Either way if you do have to do 2 weeks and you go see Dr. Scott on the 22nd. Were still looking at close to the begining of Sept. That is just a stones throw away GURL!!!!!! Dont panic just see what Dr. Scott has to say then take it one step at a time from there. I am telling you before you know it your day will be here. I am so looking foward to being your angel!!!!!!
Love ya Gurl
