I have to start my liquid protien diet today. 14 days left before surgery. I was just woundering how everyone tolerated thier liquid diet before surgery and what kind of stuff did you consume? Whats the best tasting protein shake and so on. Thanks for any feed back.
Holly
Congrats!!! I was on a totaly liquid diet for 8 weeks. It was a struggle but alot of it was all in my head. I ate or rather drank alot of different things. Like:
SF Jello
SF Koolaide
Propel
Decaf Tea
Decaf Coffee
SF Applecider
SF Cocoa
Broth (chicken, beef)
SF Popsicles
I ate alot of the SF koolaide in frozen ice trays
For protein I drink the Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard
it come in several different flavors and taste WONDERFUL!!!! The best
I have ever had and I have tried alot trust me!!!
I take 1 scoop add with 8 oz of reduced fat milk and get 32 grams of protein
I just do that 2x's daily. You can always do more if needed.
I hope this information helps you out. Please let us know how you are doing.
And if there is anything I can do for you just drop me an email.
Good Luck
Melissa
Holly, I didn't have to do a liquid protein diet before surgery. I'm having surgery tomorrow, the 10th, and the only liquid diet I had to have was clear liquids today and mag citrate this afternoon. I've been drinking the Profect Protica protein in the tubes that are advertised here on this web page 3 times a day, chicken broth, jello, sf popsicles, broth off of vegetable soup--no vegetables though, water, apple juice, diet cherry limeade from Sonic, things like that. There's no milk products. The protein in the tubes is considered a clear liquid--per Dena last evening at support group. I hope I've helped you. I don't know what I'd have done for two weeks--I guess the same except without the diet cherry limeade from Sonic. Good luck to you. Did you ask your dr. what he suggests? Maybe he has some other ideas as well. Or you could call the dietian and check with her.

about all i can add to the mix it that the protein powder that Mellissa refers to is absolutly wonderful and is the best i have tasted too.
Only difference is i use Soy milk instead of reg milk ,which i am allergic to. is the diet you are suppoe to be on a full liquid or clear liguid? if it is full liquid you could add cream soups to that menu too. Jan
