Hey there all . We got home yesterday about 6:30 we warmed up some soup for supper and by 9 we were ready for bed. We were both exhausted. The Pre-ops at the hospital are very easy and not bad at all they have it all so coordinated that the whole process took me from 10:30 till 1:00pm to do. First was taken to the nurse assessment office where she had you to sigh all these papers . Consent forms etc. then they take you to this room off of the surgery wing . I was with Maggie the Rn for the department . She went over the form that we have given to us at Dr. Hornbostels office about all of our past medical problems. Then she had the person from the ekg to come in and do the test on your heart. Then the anesthesia Doctor came in and talked to me about the process of putting you to sleep and I talked to him about my problems I have had before . He said they have all the latest equipment at their disposal and that all of them are highly trained and would be watching over me like a hawk. By the way girls he was very cute. Looked like Luka on E.R. Sounded like him too. Then they had the dietician and the a girl from the P.T. come in. The girl from P.T worked on my knee a little and said most of my pain was coming from muscles being too tight . And showed me an exercise to do. She said that she sees a lot of that with athletes. Lol didn't know I was an athlete did you. Then Maggie took 5 vials of blood. I ask her if they were going to feed me afterwards lol She really did a good job drawing my blood tho. I have these horrible veins and most of the time it takes most of them 5 or 6 times to find a good vein and she found it first time and I didn't even feel it at all. No Kidding. And then they took me to x-ray to do a chest film and that was it. After the x ray I got to leave and then I called Linda and we went up to see Barbara together. Who by the way is such a sweetie. The only bad thing I might have to say about the hospital is that the rooms are extremely small. So Joe will be staying at night at a motel. Latanya: Thanks for the good wishes and prayers. Glad to have you on the boards. And please come back often and tell us your day so we can get to know you . Marilyn: Glad you got your psch appointment in Springfield. I don't know about time wise seems like all of them do a different thing. Mine I went too took from 9:am to about 1pm to do . He had me do all sorts of true and false questions. Like have you ever had thought of killing yourself. And stuff like that. Then an ink blot test which is a joke to me . I told mine that it looked like someone spilled ink . Im not good at seeing things that aren't there. We talked a lot too. Mainly what they are looking for is do you have the ability to be compliant on the diet requirements and you know that the wls isn't a magic bullet that is going to do it all for you without working at it. ' Marcie: Your picture of you all in this fancy hotel sneaking out to buy groceries of baloney and bread was just too funny. Lol Looks like they would include at least one meal a day in the price doesn't it. I hope you all have a great time. I will keep you in my thought and prayers that you all have a safe trip and have a great time while there. Craig : thank you for the phone calls . You are one great , and sweet angel. Couldn't pick a better one at all. How are you doing on the eating part. don't eat too many mashed tators. The dietician yesterday gave me a great idea. Each morning put all that you need to get down on a shelf in your ref. All together and then you can sort of plan it out a little better that way. Sort of a visual to help you get it in. I see there are several that have posted to the board that are sort of new and I hope they continue to come on line. Karen Meyers. Getting approval from the insurance company is a big step the rest of it will be easy. What Doc and hospital will you be using? Lana: that is great news about the time you have going for you on the exercise and diet program. So you may be joining us sooner than you thought. Great. Hey I talked to the dietician yesterday about our favorite soup and she said it sounded great and if the substitutes were made like we talked about it would be a good one to use later when you are allowed veggies.. Leah Camp: I hope your insurance will help you by paying the 80 % instead of 50 but be prepared for the worse and hope for the best . Lol that is always my motto. Good to see you posting. Oh by the way I am having the Rny Cathy : I sure do hope there are lots of people at the meeting next Monday. If I am not there it is because I will be having my surgery that day in Sedalia. Tell everyone hi for me that day. My sister will probably be at the meeting and can give everyone an update. Well another day another way to try to keep cool I guess. Drink lots of water and stay out of the sun. Remember the saying: only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid day sun. LOL I hope the blood work they did yesterday shows that I am clear of all infections so I can go ahead with the surgery Monday. If so is only 6 days left now. Whoo hoo. I am a little nervous but not too bad. I have all the confidence in the world in Dr. Hornbostel and after meeting them I believe the staff at the Hospital are all very competent and I don't have any major things wrong with me like a bad heart so im sure I will do just fine. Melissa are you back in town yet?? LOVE AND JOY AND PEACE ABOUNDS JAN

Hello everyone Wow I sure did miss you all. Things were kind of crazy around here. But I am home now and my company is gone. I think I may have over done it some with our company from PA and then the trip and show on top of that. My back is hurting and a couple of my hernias are hurting pretty bad too. I know I did things that are on my list of no no's from my car accident years ago. And our good friend brought his 11 year old daughter and I hate to say this but she really got on my nerves. He has brought his other children before and they were really good kids, but this girl was something else. I so much wanted to get on to her for the baby talking and whining. I my eyes she was to old to act like that, I never let my kids talk and act like that even when they were very small. His other children don't act like that either. And 10 days of her was way to much for me. OK OK I know I am a bad person for that, but I did my best to put up with it. But on the 7th day I had to ask her to please not whine like that around me because I thought she was to old to be acting like that. Then I apologized to her dad (our good friend), but he said it was ok that her mom has her way to spoiled cause she is the last kid. Jan, Linda and Brenda I bet you are getting so excited. I am excited for you. And Craig I am so glad to hear you are doing better. And for those of you that asked for prayers I have said special prayers for you and your loved ones. I have also said prayers for each and every one of you on this board and your families. You are all so very special. Anyway just know you were all in my thoughts and prayers even thought I couldn't get on here and say hi. I hope everyone is doing great and has a great day. Try and stay cool cause I can tell you getting over heated is no fun I did that this last weekend too. LOL May God Keep and Bless Each and Every One of You. Sky

Jan and all my MO OH buddies, Another hot day in the Ozarks. I'm at work and my boss, who got back from vacation yesterday, called me and she's sick today. Has that stomach flu that we've all been passing around. Today I have a class at St. Johns at 11:30 and then go back after work to the gym. Feels as if I live there. It helps that I don't go up there on the weekends anymore and can go to St. John's gym in Nixa really close to home. Found out last night that the folks who are moving out of the house my ex is buying for my daughter are leaving lots of stuff for her. Refrigerator, window a/c's, woodstove, 2 chairs, 2 bed frames, freezer and washer and dryer and the stove and ovens and microwave are built in. How cool is that. God is so good. She is leaving almost everything when she leaves her boyfriend as she doesn't want him to have any reason to think he needs to come and take stuff away from her. We are worried about him following her so please include that in your prayer lists. He is not physically violent but is verbally abusive to her and my grandson. She'll be loading a truck while he's at work and hopefully leaving before he gets home. I'm trying to think of a place for all of us to go after the September 11 meeting at St. John's. I think Panera bread might be good as they don't have a huge dinner crowd and should have room for us at 7:30 or so. Let me know what you think. Hugs and prayers and love to all of you. Lana

Hello Everyone: We got home about Noon today. Glad to see that Barbara is doing so well with her surgery. And that Craig is finally off his antobotics. I am sorry to hear that Jan is still not up to par. But I am praying on this end that everything works out for her. Had a good time went to my nephews 5th birthday party. DH and my sister put his swing set together that my parents bought for him. Was there with them all day long. Got lots of photos of all 3 of the kids. I cant believe how big my nephew is getting. He is just 2 months old and already looks like a football player. Everyone calls him the Little Lumber Jack. And of course my new neice is called the Princess. She is so small and tiny. What a doll all 3 of them are. We had so much fun with them. Spent 2 nights with my sister, neice and new baby. Isabelle (the baby) had a Dr. appointment on Monday and has gained 11oz in a week. Both momma and baby are doing good. Daddy of course is all puffed up and proud. Went back to my parents house on Monday. Meet my parents at the hospital because they were pulling fluid that had built up in between my Mothers lung and wall of her chest. They did an altrasound to locate the pocket. Numbed up her back and stuck this huge needle/drain into her back or actually into the pocket of fluid. They pulled almost a 2 liter bottle of fluid off of her lung area. I just cried and thought well no wonder she was having such a hard time breathing. They are sending it off to labs to make sure it isnt something to be worried about. The Dr. that performed the percedure was so good to her. And talked to her the whole time. Afterwards we got her home. And she pretty much rested the rest of the day. But outside of feeling alittle sore. She was breathing alot better already. Praise God. So that is how my week went. I am totally bushed. But so happy to be home. I hope you all are fine and dandy. Glad to see we have some newbie posting on the board. I will be checking back in later. Right now I am going to go check mail and get something to eat. Love ya Melissa

Life is good to us. I tell my surgon all the time he sayed mylife he just gives me hug but its the truth. I am not gonna say it was easy cause its not but nothing is easy when it really works I really didnt have any proublems this whole time. I will say the 1st 3 weeks were the worst. I was wondering what i did to myself. But after that it got better. Make sure you drink those protien shakes I didnt have much luck with them and I still dont get them in every week i think well im gonna do better but i dont. I have lost about 120 so far i would like to lose about 25 more but im not doing real well with it. Butnot really trying either so its my fault i think if i tryed i could lose it.
